Q: “What is the most important thing you learned in your journey in life? Explain.”

Life is a journey, and regardless of which paths you decide to take, you’ll find yourself learning something new every step of the way. When you take your very first steps as a baby, you’re learning. When you discover the moral behind a story that you’ve read, you’re learning. When you look at yourself in the mirror and realize that you’re not the same person you used to be, you are learning.
I must admit, I’ve made several mistakes in life, but then again name me one person that hasn’t. You can’t, because let’s just face it, nobody’s perfect. On the bright side, though, we all get a chance to gain knowledge from our mistakes and not repeat them again in the future. Unfortunately, not everyone takes this opportunity the first time it’s given to them. In fact, we never really learn from the first mistake, nor the second or third. It only hits us when we’re given the last chance.
I realized this in middle school, which was probably where I made the most mistakes in this little voyage called life. My biggest fault was letting people take advantage of me. Looking back now, I realize that I was very naïve, especially in sixth grade, when I was desperate for friends and acceptance. I acted like other people and lost myself in the process just to fit in with the rest of the crowd. I still didn’t learn my lesson in the seventh grade and continued to accept way less than I deserved. I felt irrelevant, unimportant, small. Eighth grade was my last chance to redeem myself and my reputation so I began to stand up for myself and my beliefs, and became less afraid of confrontations. Unfortunately, however, people no longer took me seriously, and weren’t falling for this new “confident” personality of mine. That’s when I began to think that I would have to pay for the mistake of making myself small in other people’s eyes for the rest of my life, but I was wrong. I now realize

Carl Band once said, “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” Growing up, I’ve learned to believe in second chances. Throughout my lifetime, I have noticed that every person makes mistakes at various points in their lifetime. As humans, we tend to hold grudges, but what we really need to try is to forgive and forget. Giving people second chances is a great thing to do; but what you do with your second chance is your decision. People can use the second chance to their advantage or they can use it to harm the people they have once hurt. I too have made mistakes in my life, but the people I’ve hurt the most while making these mistakes have always been the ones to forgive me.…

Admitting to your wrong doings is the first step to making them right. "If you learn you wrong then maybe you get to be a man [sic]" (Walter Mosley 22). Socrates says this to Darryl when he is trying to get him to see that he was wrong for having killed a boy. If you don 't realize you 're wrong then you can 't even begin to make it right.
