Jamba Juice
Jamba Juice is a chain of smoothie restaurants headquartered in Emeryville, California with over 700 locations operating in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the Bahamas. Over 500 locations are company-owned, with the remainder being franchised.[1] For the 51-week Fiscal Year, which ended on January 1, 2008, sales were $317 million, which included sales of $306 million from company locations.
Jamba Juice was founded by a Crespi student in April 1990 by Cal Poly graduate Kirk Perron, along with cofounders Joe Vergara, Kevin Peters, and Linda Ozawa Olds.[3] It was incorporated in 1990 as Juice Club, Inc. in San Luis Obispo, California.[4][5] It is known as one of the leaders in the quick-serve fruit and vegetable juice market nationwide.[6]

In 1993, the company opened and started along with two other California stores owners, one in Palo Alto[7] and one in Irvine.[8] The original San Luis Obispo Juice Club was located at the corner of Chorro St. and Foothill Blvd. and still exists as a Jamba Juice location.

Juice Club Inc. of San Francisco changed its store name to Jamba Juice in 1995.[9] Said founder Perron:[10]

“ I'm surprised there aren't more companies creating a culture beyond selling, [offering] a soulful experience for the customer. That's been the basis for our success. ”

In August 1997, Jamba entered into an operating agreement with Whole Foods Market to sell only "natural" products inside some of the Whole Foods's locations, including Jamba's smoothies' ingredients.[11] For this reason, offerings at Whole Foods sites may differ from those at stand-alone sites.[12] Dianne Yzavel is the founder of Zuka Juice. Jamba Juice acquired all nation-wide Zuka Juice, Inc. stores in March 1999.[13] Zuka Juice was founded in Orem, Utah, and also was a prominent smoothie company at the time. Since then Jamba Juice has expanded to become one of the nation's best known smoothie chains, emphasizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

This scene is broken into 4 sections, within it there are 3 characters; Donna, Rodney and Melissa-Anne. The first section of the scene was solely Donna explaining what was going on and the current situation of the party. The next section starred Melissa-Anne and Rodney; this was when they were waiting for Donna to pick them up, they were in Rodney’s bedroom. The following section was again of Donna and she was explaining to the audience that she had realized what was actually going on and also she started to compare herself to the present situation. This continued into the final section of the scene with all 3 characters in it. Donna was in the car with Rodney and Melissa and was talking to them about her personal experiences with alcohol and other existing issues. This scene was very important to the play because it was the set up for the party and hence Rodney’s death. It was also important because it gave an insight in to the relationship of Rodney and Melissa-Anne and showed that Donna wasn’t as responsible as she was initially made out to be.…

As noted throughout this analysis, Jamba Juice has a number of organizational issues. Primarily, Jamba Juice mismanaged their rapid growth, which reduced their margins, increased their operating expenses, and stalled their cash inflows. Failure to instill any organizational culture of financial discipline allowed these problems to permeate throughout the company. The seasonal demand of smoothies was another issue, as it created downturns in revenue at certain times of the year. A lack of thoughtful marketing and advertising strategies, especially as Jamba Juice expanded across the nation, failed to take advantage of their strong brand and create more awareness and interest.…

    Trader Joe

Trader Joe's is named after its founder, Joe Coulombe. The chain began in 1958 as a Greater Los Angeles area chain of "Pronto Market" convenience stores. The original Pronto Markets were similar to 7-Eleven stores, so similar Coulombe felt the competition with 7-Eleven would be ruinous.[6]He is said to have developed the idea of the Trader Joe South Seas motif while on vacation in the Caribbean.[7] He had noticed that Americans were traveling more and returning home with tastes for food and wine they had trouble satisfying in supermarkets of the time.[8] The first store named "Trader Joe's" opened its doors in 1967. This store, on Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena, California, remains in operation. In response to competition from 7-Eleven, the chain differentiated its stores' offerings and doubled the floor space in 1967. In the first few decades of operation, some of the stores offered fresh meats provided by butchers who leased space in the stores. Trader Joe's at one time had sandwich shops, freshly cut cheese, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Theo Albrecht bought the company in 1979.[9] Coulombe was succeeded by John Shields in 1987; under his leadership the company expanded beyond California, moving into Arizona in 1993 and the Pacific Northwest two years later.[2] In 1996, the company opened its first stores on the East Coast, in Brookline and Cambridge, both outside Boston.[2] Shields retired in 2001, turning the reins over to Dan Bane. Shields still does consulting for the company.…

Even before juicers were invented fruits were mashed. Text from the Dead Sea Scrolls, "A pounded mash of pomegranate and fig" resulting in "profound strength and subtle form,” indicates that juicing has been around since ancient times. The first living juicer was invented in the 1930’s by Dr. Norman Walker. He called this juicer the Norwalk Juice and it is still on the market to this day. In 1954 the first masticating juicer was invented, The Champion, which can juice almost every type of vegetable including leafy ones. The Greenpower juicer was invented in 1993 and was the first twin gear juicer. It was created by Richard Kim who was presented the grand prize at the 9th International Invention/ New Products Exposition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in May 1993.…

It wasn’t until 1938 that the Britvic range of juices that we know today were first produced — thanks to Ralph Chapman, owner of the British Vitamin Products Company. Recognising that the Great Depression in the UK meant that many of his poorest customers needed an affordable source of Vitamin C, he found a way to bottle fruit juices so that they stayed fresh for longer without the addition of preservatives. His juices were sold in small glass bottles which ensured easy transportation. The idea was immediately successful but it was only in 1949 that the Britvic brand was formally launched into the marketplace.…
