SUMMARY
Routing is the methodology of selecting way or path in a system and also to send network traffic in this path or way and route is the way to send the system traffic. There are two types of routes. One is static routing and other

Dynamic Routing:
The router learns about remote frameworks from neighbor switches or from a system manager or administrator. Dynamic routing utilizes Routing Protocols that effectively discover system destinations and how to get to them. Dynamic routing grants routing tables in routers or switches to change if a router on the route goes down or if alternate system is added.
In Dynamic Routing, Routing Protocols running in Routers reliably exchange system status upgrades between one another as broadcast or multicast. With the support of routing upgrades messages sent by the Routing Protocols, routers can always redesign the routing table whenever a framework topology change happens. The routers or switches then upgrade one another about all the networks or system they know. If a change happens in a router goes down, the dynamic routing protocols naturally illuminate all switches about the change. If static routing is utilized, then the system manager or administrator has to upgrade all changes redesign all progressions into all routers and therefore no routing protocol is utilized.
Dynamic routing enables routers by using routing protocols

IGRP will route IP, IPX, Decnet and AppleTalk which makes it amazingly adaptable for customers running a extensive variety of protocols. It is sort of more adaptable than RIP since it upholds a hop number of 100, simply promotes for every 90 seconds and uses a composite of five different measurements to choose a best path objective or destination.IGRP does recognize task of unique independent systems and naturally designs at network class limits. There is the alternate method to load balance traffic across equivalent or unequal metric expensive

Virus protection – virus protection protects a computer system from malicious viruses and Trojans and worms which you can be infected by through the internet or email or downloading files or through a USB flash drive etc. virus protection usually consists of a firewall, virus scanner, virus remover and spyware. With virus protection you can perform a scan on your computer to check if you have been infected by any viruses or Trojans or worms. With some virus protections software’s you can scan your computer then it will ask you if you want the viruses removed, also if any programs have been infected the virus protection will ask you if you want the infected program deleted, most virus…

Studying the seven layers of the OSI design, a decision to be taken is that the layer three, also referred to as the network layer is the one which WAN protocols operates on. The network layer carries out regular tasks as well as pinpoints end-to-end addressing and routing datagrams (Regan, 2004). There exists a unit known as brouter that some layers incorporate which works like a router and a bridge. Routers and switches work on layers 2-4 (data link layer, network layer as well as transport layer). As mentioned earlier, on layer two of the OSI model, network layer, is the place where the addressing and routing is carried out. On the transport layer of the OSI model is the place where the flow control and mistake handling works. Lastly, on layer four the synchronizations and assemblies are completed.…

AODV has pooled properties of both DSR and DSDV. It uses route discovery process for sustaining route information through the basis of routing table. It is a reactive protocol as it doesn’t need to establish or maintain routes to nodes that are not involved in the communication. AODV handles route discovery process with Route Request (RREQ) messages to broadcast to neighbour nodes. The message floods through the network till the desired destination is reached. Sequence number guarantees the loop freedom. The destination node at once receiving a RREQ unicasts a Route Reply (RREP) back to the source node. Node transmitting a RREP message creates routing table entries for forward route. For route maintenance, nodes send HELLO messages intermittently to neighbour nodes. If any node in the network miss the mark to receive three consecutive HELLO messages from its neighbour, it presumes that link to that particular node is down. A node that perceive a broken link directs a Route Error (RERR) message to any upstream node. At once a node receives a RERR message it will signpost a new source discovery process. The AODV protocol uses sequence numbers to determine the timeliness of each packet and to…

The Network Layer is accountable for implementing a logical addressing scheme and for transporting the packets from one end to the other end. The network layer can be connectionless or it can be connection oriented. This layer is also responsible for breaking larger packets up for delivery depending on the media this is known as packet switching. These protocols include Apple talk DDP, IP, and IPX.…

Default gateways, also known as routers, serve the purpose of allowing message transmission across networks. When an Ethernet frame from a source host is wishing to be sent to a host off network, the source will instead send it to the default gateway, using the router’s MAC address. The default gateway will then forward the message to the intended destination host or the next closest default gateway if still not directly…

A router is a type of hardware device designed to receive, analyse and transfer incoming packets of data to another network. It can also convert data to another network interface. There are two types of router, router and the wireless router. The main purpose a router is to connect multiple networks and transfer information to own networks or other networks. The router also prevents data from going where its not…

EIGRP (enhanced interior gateway protocol) is a hybrid protocol. This protocol allows for minimal routing instability as well as the bandwidth processing power of the router. OSPF (open shortest path first) allows the packets to take the shortest path based on the routers routing table. RIP (routing information protocol) limits the number of hops that the data can make. It also has some stability features such as holddown and route poisoning mechanisms that help prevent incorrect routing information from being generated. RIPv2 is a better version of RIP and thus allowing classless inter-domain routing (CIDR). IS-IS protocol stands for intermediate system – intermediate system. This protocol was designed to move information quickly across a network of computers that are physically connected together. Each router independently builds its own routing table to allow the process of information to move faster. The different comment modes of a router include: >, #, (config), and (config-if) or user mode, privilege mode, global configuration mode and interface configuration…

IP routing defines how a router chooses where to send an IP packet next. For each packet, the router first finds the true intended destination of the packet. The router compares that destination IP address to the router’s true intended destination of the packet. The routers compares that destination IP address to the router’s IP routing table, finding the best route to use. When routing IP packets from source host to the destination host, the Layer 3 logic focuses on the hosts and routers. IP routing must also rely on the 2 lower layers, Layer 1 and Layer 2. Those layers…

Switches and routers are key components to operating any network. Switches can break up a large area network into smaller segments. This will free up congestion and provide more bandwidth to each port, which will increase network performance. The first step is to plug into a power source, connect the console port to a computer or modem with UTP cabling and an RJ-45 cable, and use the command line interface (CLI) to configure and manage the switch in user exec mode and privilege exec mode. In most cases, the switch will perform a power on self-test. The manual will indicate the particulars of any failure. One must configure a password because the switch arrives without one. This provides security through the console settings menu and the password configuration option while one may also incorporate an encrypted password option. Entering global configuration through the command line option will change passwords, also. To change the IP configuration, one would choose the [I] key and choose the IP address option and set the Subnet mask and Default gateway. Creating a VLAN requires switching to Global Configuration mode and using vlan vlan# name name_of_vlan command. To add more VLAN ports, go to the Interface Configuration Mode…
