Husky Band Uprising: Song Analysis
The song that represents me from the Husky Band playlist would be Uprising. It’s a little difficult to put the “how” into words, as the words of the song only represent me a little, but the musical journey it takes you on is what I think describes myself. First and foremost, many people take others based on first impressions. I can easily be described as a quiet and awkward person, and for a lot of people they don’t see those as qualities that can succeed - especially in a position that aims to make sure the crowd is pumped. You become enamored with what it is trying to tell you. This goes both with my experience of HMB and life for me. Coming into HMB I really thought it would be another band, like high school. I left band in middle school we had a band with four members and instrumentation that would make any director cry, and returned in high school to a band that only did two parades a year and never had to do a field show. I had no real idea what I was getting into when I signed up for HMB, in fact, I did on a whim. I expected it to be a well-disciplined group of individuals who were very musical and precise, almost like drum corps. Then suddenly during the rookie demo during PSDs it was a big “Surprise, this is what you are in for! This will take what you know and turn upside down.” It’s truly something that can’t be experienced anywhere else. All the buildup leading up to it, didn’t set me up for what I thought it would be, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I
