The legal case in subject is with Williams Construction, a company that was under investigation after a trench collapse, which resulted in the death of Jose Aguiniga, and serious injury to Adam Palomar, two employees with Williams Construction. At the conclusion of the investigation, under the guidelines of the Occupational Safety and Hazards Act, or OSHA, Williams Construction was charged with four violations that resulted in excessive fines. The investigation concluded that Williams Construction failed to instruct employees and managers on recognizing and avoiding dangerous work conditions, failed to ensure that employees did not have to travel more than 25 feet to a safe zone, failed to have an employee that was trained and experienced in trench safety, and failed to make sure that the walls of the air were either sloped or supported. The OSHA investigation concluded that if these regulations were followed, the tragic event could have been avoided. The legal issue is whether or not the courts and the construction company itself should up hold the violations of specific OSHA standards.…

I had an opportunity to speak with Steve Mosley (Upper Right Leadership) an executive coach referred to Mountaire from Drew Stewart (our Profiles International Partner). Steve was formerly with Altel and has a breadth of coaching experience though he has only been in the business of executive coaching since 2009. Certified by the World Wide Association of Business Coaches he is familiar with the CheckPoint 360 and PXT though his work is primarily focused toward executives in small to mid-sized companies (under 500 to 5000 employees). Based upon the conversation, I believe that his expertise would be better suited for a Director level role rather than anyone on the executive team.…

If upper management is interested in exploring more technologically advanced and interactive toys within my core brand, I would approach the process with an open mind, including a creativity aspect to accomplish this goal. Researching both current and past successes and failures with technologically advanced toys within the company would be the first step. To eliminate competing with yourself or repeating errors made in the past, research is always key (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014, p. 16). Next, creating an outline of the toys we currently produce and evaluating them to determine the best possible results for implementing the new technology. While doing so, this would be a great time to develop our target group for sales. Are we creating a product for teenagers, or tweens? This information will prove vital in determining the features to include or exclude during the development phase. While reviewing the current inventory, designers would be asked to assist with interfacing modifications to current products, to determine the pros and cons of making adjustments. With safety being the number one priority, we must ensure that the product maintains its highest level of standard. If deemed that the modifications will not be suitable for our core brand, I would create an alternative solution to the request from upper management, which may involve an entirely new product. If deemed suitable, the next phase would be testing the product and then preparing for the marketing campaign. Establishing an effective marketing campaign is a…

After being deployed for six months with three months left in the tour, emotions in my organization are intensified, while moods tend to be those of boredom or stress. These factors greatly affected a recent issue I had with my supervisor. A company safety training day was mandated in order to decrease safety violations; the problem was that the training had to be attended by everyone at the same time. The company consists of four different elements, all on different schedules. The requirement to conduct the training in the middle of the day interfered with my subordinates’ sleep schedules and mission preparation time. Consequently, from the start of the training, my subordinates and I were frustrated and upset.…
