Honors English Class Reflection
Honors English was a real eye-opener this year. It gave me an idea of what I want to do with my life through the numerous projects that were assigned to the class this year. Just being in a classroom with a welcoming environment really shaped youself and I’m sure many others. Honors English III has prepared me for life after high school in a way that no other class has, this class opened my eyes to what I want to do. The lectures that were given all throughout the year really prepared me for life after high school. The lecture that sticks out the most is when Mrs. Switzky told us that putting someone down and lowering their self-esteem wasn’t funny because as students we could never know what goes on in their life. And to think that all got started when Kyle said Ian could beat up Connor. At the time the whole class was irritated that we had to listen to her …show more content…
When we were first assigned those, everyone hated the idea that we the Honors Students were the only ones that had to do them, not only once but twice. I’m not going to lie and say that I loved them, because I didn’t, but I will say that by doing those videos I learned that working with someone else isn’t always going to be easy with anything I chose to pursue. After high school I will know how to handle myself in a situation where I’m doing all the work, because I’m not going to give my boss something that isn’t best quality. All though we dreaded it all year the American Dream project was my favorite throughout the whole year. This was a project that Mrs. Switzky said we would be proud of, and I’m pretty sure we all are. It showed us what shaped our country, our minds, and our futures. After that project I somewhat, not completely have my life figured out. After high school I know where I want to go in the world and what I want to be, but I also know the journey’s going to be hard so I’ll have to work for that and do my

The word Crucible can mean couple of things, however the definition that stands out the most is ' A place or occasion of severe test or trial '. Just reading it, it could mean numerous things, however after reading the play, The Crucible, it makes a little more sense. In this play, test and trial is exactly what goes on. Women were being accused of performing witchcraft and being witches, which meant they would go to trial where they would either accept or deny this accusation and based on what they said, they could be put to death. This changed many of the characters. The 3 main characters i will discuss which underwent change are Mr. Proctor, who changed quite a bit, Abigail, who did not change at all, and Mary Warren, who changed because of John Proctor.…

Although some people claim that English III AP Tag is very challenging, which it is very much is, and not worth the non-stop work, it will only enhance our ability to critically read and write which makes the class great.…

Throughout this semester many things have been new experiences for the entire class. Some met new interesting people on the other hand some people learned new experiences that will be used throughout the rest of this next semester. Whether it was watching a video on the computer or reading through the Bedford book, many new techniques were learned, as well as new information being learned. Some day’s everything may have not been all together but everything still managed to work out for the entire class, or the one’s that stuck it out through “craziness” of being a new student or having a new teacher. This “craziness was definitely well worth it now that the semester is over and the new semester is approaching.…

The only way to get better at certain things is by doing them over and over. I feel as this applies to writing. In writing workshop we wrote a lot. So obviously I think that I became a better writer. Mainly because this semester I wrote as much essays as I did my freshman and sophomore year. During this class I changed some of my ways of writing because I didn’t like how it was. It also helped me see my strong and weak spots in writing. I can leave this class with tips for other students and with things that help me write better. This class is writing workshop and I will leave this class with more writing skill than I had in the beginning of the year.…

Nursing has been given the idea that a lot of writing is not needed after nursing school, but that assumption is incorrect. Nurses have a lot of daily task, many of them need good writing and comprehension skills which can be developed in English 101 and English 102 classes. Core classes in general will help and the foundations that are taught in those two classes can help make one successful in any career, nursing included. Nursing needs writing in these tasks: creating a daily plan for the patient, writing prescriptions (depending on which position of a nurse), creating a plan for the patient after being discharged, and for communication through emails. With the help received in English 101 and the help I will be receiving in English 102…

I have learned much in my 11 years in California public school. I learned to write in cursive; I learned my times tables; I learned the equation for a line, and I learned a thing or two about Shakespeare. However, the most important thing I learned is that is that the Common Core doesn’t work. The Common Core Standards Initiative is an approach to keep all American students on the same page. The problem is that it keeps all of us on page 1. In my AP Calculus BC class, my 13 classmates and I are piloting a Common Core textbook. At first, everyone was excited to try something new, but now we groan at the sight of the textbook. While I passed the AP test for the first year of Calculus, it has been a challenge “reviewing” these concepts in the new style. Why change a system that was proven to be successful? California, one of the last states to implement Common Core, actually made a change for the worse. Therefore, I strongly believe that the 28th amendment to the Constitution should be the nationwide abolishment of Common Core.…
