High school teacher, Christine Pelton, did the right thing, all those students deserved the score they received, why should they get rewarded for work that isn’t theirs, when the other students put all their own work into the project? Both the principle and the super intendent agreed with Pelton’s decision, and failed the 28 sophomores. But, after parents of the students who received a zero, complained to the school board, they ordered Pelton to go easier on the guilty students. Since Pelton is a teacher at the high school in Piper, Kansas, why would the school not defend her actions? After all, the students are the ones that caused this incident. When one makes a choice that they know can come with a serious consequence, that individual is solely to blame for whatever punishment they might face. In the case of Christine Pelton, a teacher with outstanding character and moral was faced to stand up for herself by resigning, after a poor decision by her respective school district. This event should serve as a warning to the American public; our morals have taken a turn for the worst in the last couple of decades and something needs to be done about it before, “doing the right thing” becomes doing the wrong
