High School Experience Speech
Speech – High School Experience

(sound alarm) Don't you just love that sound. Ahhh the sound of school calling at 6 in the morning. When you start a new school or a new grade many emotions are most likely running through your head which stress' you out. But when you get to high school it's a whole new beginning and experience. The overall experience of high school is pretty neat if you asked me. The freedom is nice, although there is a lot of stress, the people in the hallway can be disturbing, and you make all new sorts of friends and enemy's.

Most people say high school will be the best 10 years of your life, okay okay 4-5 if you never give up. High school is a lot different then public school, you don't get to pick your seat for the most part, which is a bummer. I mean yeah it is a good way to make new friends but when a teacher forces you to sit beside a total stranger or you've seen them around just don't know them too well it brings things to a whole new level of awkwardness. Unless you're one lucky duck and get to sit beside your best friend or your secret crush. I'm positive teachers here don't check your planner's or remind you when a project or test is coming up, it is your own responsibility from now on. You have 10 minutes between classes, and your teachers don't walk you to your next class. You are given a whole new level of responsibility, make good choices. Your choices will decide your future... No pressure folks.

Which brings me to stress. You have 4 classes and most of them you will have homework, projects, tests etc. I wonder if teachers actually take account that his or her students have 3 other classes and each teacher will be giving out quite a bit of homework questions, maybe a speech here and there and an upcoming test. I mean our life's don't revolve around just school, most of us have jobs and you can't do homework when you are working. Also, more than half of us kids play sports not only in school but out of school as well.

High school classes might have seemed better in the past compared to college. You might feel more comfortable in smaller classes than you would heading off to university, but that is simply from the comfort of your surroundings. You are familiar with your teachers and your closest friends are always by your side. This might create a friendlier environment, but branching away from the only things you have ever known will help you grow as an individual. Leaving home to start your life as an adult can be tough; however, learning every day responsibilities and making new relationships are two things that will benefit anyone who is getting ready to enter the “real world.” Students benefit more from college classes over high school classes because they learn responsibilities and create new relationships which help them to gain independence.…

High school should be the time of your life. You should take the classes that you want and spend as much time with your friends. However, there are some high schools that don't provide as many opportunities as other schools contain. Some do not have the kind of money to even take care of the students and some don't even have enough books to educate them. I have had the privilege to learn in an environment that contains enough books and supplies for all of the students attending the schools. There were many classes that were open to me and one specific one that touched me the most was Spanish.…

My experience is about when I first started going to Plum Grove in seventh grade and continued on to eighth grade. Before this experience, I thought that seventh and eighth grade were going to be very hard for me because I believed that it would be a lot more complicated than past school years. I thought that eighth grade was going to be a whole lot harder than seventh. My teachers always said that eighth grade is like a preview of high school. I never really liked school before I came to Jr. High. So I felt like Jr. High was going to be dreadful for me. Turns out that it wasn't bad at all.…

High school teachers don’t expect all time outside of the classroom to be devoted to school work because they realize that students have lives unlike DE/AP level teachers. They also expect the student not to turn in some works on time and let them turn the works in late without any points being taken out. The class work of regular high school level classes is surprisingly much more in amount of work and a bit easier than DE/AP level classes. Most of the time spent in class is used up by doing a mind numbingly amount of worksheets and problems unlike DE/AP level classes that only do one worksheet. The time in the beginning of class is used for lecture.…

I see high school as deeper work, more responsibility, and more homework. The teachers are a lot harder on you. In high school, you get more freedom than in middle school because you’re older. There is harder work because the standards are higher. There is more responsibility because the teachers think you can do it and you have to keep up with more books and stuff.…

Starting high school was a terrifying idea to me. Different teachers, class times, lockers, drama! I remember that I always looked up to my older sister while she was in high school. She had tons of friends, played sports, participated in student government, and went out for the school play. I wanted to be just like her when I started high school. In middle school, I lined myself up for this, I played soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter. I helped out in the school plays, and I joined the student government. I had a group of great friends, and thought nothing bad was going to happen.…

High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…
