Giving Back To A Community Analysis
Throughout my life I have been involved with the community from soup kitchens, motivational groups and other areas that I have found needed to be a part of in my life. Civil rights, social actions, welfare and social services have been a motivation for both my lifestyle and my involvement because without people actively participating in these areas people that need service would be left with minimal to little resources. I find joy in working with others and being able to better understand the backgrounds that others come from to enable me to be a person people can come to for help without feeling distance or discomfort. Giving back to the community has proved to give me a feeling of purpose and worth, I show my gratitude to by becoming involved

Something very important to me in my life is service and that is why throughout my life I also plan to remain involved in the act of helping others in need. Throughout high school I have belonged to a youth group that’s has gone a mission trip every summer, and on these trips I have had some of the most meaningful experiences of my life which have really made me realize how good my life is, and how important it is to share your talents, abilities, and time with others who may not be as fortunate as yourself.…

Being a somewhat affluent community it would be appropriate to use the miscellaneous service and convenience norms policing role. The reason for this is being a somewhat wealthy community as discussed in the live chat by Professor Russ Pomrenke not that much crime will take place in this community. With the miscellaneous roles the police would assist standard motorist, look for lost individuals, assist with lockouts, and provide information. And with the convenience norms role the police would direct traffic, investigate accidents, write parking tickets, and make traffic flow suggestions (Pomrenke, 2013). The…

I do my best to volunteer when I can, donate money or resources for a cause and actively work hard at being a good person. I take the time out of my life to make time for someone else or to give back to those that have done so much for the community. My family and friends are a top priority in my life, so I take the time to welcome new faces in the neighborhood, as well as keeping in touch with and caring for those that have lived in the…

I volunteer in my community whenever I get the opportunity. For example, I helped students get to school safely and I helped out around the school. I volunteered at the public library to help younger children. I now see it is hard work to get children focused and help them not make a big mess, but I enjoyed helping them in any way I can. Volunteering at the public library also taught me about patience. Not everything went exactly how I planned it out, but at the end it still worked out. My time at the library also taught me about effort.…

As long as I can remember service to others was always encouraged by my family and teachers. For example, I helped teachers with the intent of lightening their load of work so they can be able to go home earlier. Things like this make me proud because I am able to help others, and to bring a smile to their faces. My excuse to avoid community service was that I always thought that school was all about homework and getting good grades to be on the top 20 of your class. Truth is I have always overlooked this people thinking they were being lazy for not working, but through this community service I learned that each and everyone around the world is fighting their own battles and we all deal with them the best way we can. I am proud of myself because I went to that community service and learned about this people who I had always stereotyped by their actions, community service has encouraged me to actively listen and learn from others, to walk alongside my neighborhood and to build new…

Having the opportunity to make new, diverse friends around the community impacted me as a person. The people I met not only included the people I served, but also included the people I worked alongside of me in the food pantry. Since I volunteered at the same day and time every week, I was able to become familiar with many new people. In fact, many of these people were even able to connect to my life. One day I had a conversation with a man I volunteered with numerous times whose name was Steve.…

I was privileged enough to be a part of a program in my high school that encouraged participating in volunteer work for both the community and school. For the past 3 years of my high school career, I was able to volunteer at neighborhood events hosted by a recreational center to a larger scale event like the Little Feet Meet hosted by Old Dominion University, where a Special Olympics is organized for elementary students across Norfolk who have mental and physical disabilities. By volunteering to these type of events, I realized that one of the fundamental aspects of being a good citizen is helping provide an environment in which everyone can feel free and…
