How far does the education system increase cultural capital amongst its students?
This essay will analyse and examine the role of educational system in increasing the cultural capital of an individual. Investigating the various forms of cultural capital and placing them into comparison with education, portraying the potential elements that can be improved by schools. At last I will discuss social and class inequalities in education, outlining the main causes and effects in the improvement of cultural capital. This essay will first examine the role of schools in improving the habitus of a student. It will attempt to demonstrate that habitus is socially created and that schools encourage self esteem of an individual by introducing a variety of languages. To counter argue this argument, I will consider the educational management of higher class in schools affecting the low expectancy of the working class students, including an example of a French school biased curriculum.
