Gay Marriage
Usually when you think of marriage you think of a man and a woman. I think gay and lesbians should be allowed to marry too. Obviously, not everybody thinks this way. Gay marriage is a hot topic these days. Some people are totally against it and think it’s gross. I think it is perfectly fine and acceptable. I love gay people. I think they have a certain spunk and attitude about them and they don’t care what anyone thinks. They are also carefree and show individuality. They are not bothering or hurting anyone and I really don’t see what the big deal is about it. I am for gay marriage 100 percent. One reason I am for gay marriage is because to deny gays and lesbians the right to marry takes away their religious freedom. Everyone thinks that homosexuality is a sin and is not Christian like. But gays are not sinning. It is not a sin for a man to love a man. They should be allowed to love whoever they want without being harshly judged like they already are. This is America and everybody has their freedoms to do whatever they want so why shouldn’t gay people? Homosexual couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples. People are people no matter what sexual orientation they are. Let them marry whoever they want. I don’t think they should be criticized on who they love. Would we want our rights taken away if we were in their shoes? I don’t think so. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is even an issue. This is discrimination and they don’t deserve to get discriminated against based on who they love and they should have the right to marry just like anyone else. We are letting young kids get married and that is risky so why shouldn’t gays be allowed to marry. As of right now they get a civil union, but if they want a traditional ceremony like heterosexual couples they should have that right. Another reason I am for gay marriage is because love conquers all. People marry because they love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Love is

If someone were to ask me if I thought Homosexuals should be allowed to marry, I would say definitely. Allowing same sex marriage will give gay couples access to rights such as inheritance, health coverage, and adoption. Same sex couples should be allowed to have access to marriage benefits just like any other couple. It is not fair for society to shun gays. I feel that we should all be accepting to their lifestyles. Homosexuality is not any different than a normal couple. Love has no boundaries and is controlled by what ones feels inside their hearts.…

Marriage is legally defined as a union between a man and a women unified until death do them part. The bible describes marriage as a sacred bond between a man and a woman before God. Therefore, same sex marriage is not applicable legally nor religiously in the United States. It’s meaning remains clear the same in both legal and religious definitions. I do not agree with same sex marriage because it confuses children and it complicates government laws. I do agree that they have a right to live happy and together, but not legally married. The author Thomas B. Stoddard, “Gay Marriages: Make Them Legal” agrees to same sex marriage and belive that they have same legal rights as everyone else.…

My personal views on this issue changed a few years ago when watching the TV broadcast and something came up about the right for gays to marry. Previously I was personally indifferent but felt that marriage was as much a religious institution as a civil institution. After all, most marriages are performed by clergy and the majority are in religious settings. I felt that civil union met the needs of gays so why offend the religions? Then I saw an older woman interviewed and she had explained that she and her partner had been waiting 30 or 40 year for this day. They have lived together as a family and wanted to be married. That's about as successful as a married couple can be, still wanting to be married after all that time! And I thought, all Americans are entitled to their own pursuit of happiness. Gays who buy into a system of family values should have the same family rights as others. I also used to get grossed out when I hear same sex marriage, but then I look at Ellen DeGeneres, for example, she is the sweetest the person that could be. Opinions about same sex marriage crossed out so many times and places as well as thru out the years. Many say that time is changing and over the years people slowly will accept the gay marriage.…

Everybody should have the right to a legally recognized union with a partner of their choice. The debate over whether or not people in same sex relationship should be allowed to marry, or even enter into civil unions is no new fight. Legalizing gay marriage has brought a new trend which then providing the arguments on supporting gay marriage such as denying them is a violation of religious freedom and minority discrimination encourages people to have strong family values and constitute a good based family as well as giving up high-risk sexual lifestyles. Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with most evidence proving biological causation, and marriage benefits should be available to all couples.…

Gay marriages have been one of the hottest and controversial topics in our society. There are still problems concerning this issue of homosexuality and gay marriages. Same sex marriages are legal in Hawaii, but in all other states couples must be of the opposite sex to form a marriage. Hawaii’s decision to legalize same sex marriages is considered a milestone victory for gays and may cause a ripple affect for similar action in other states. Those who support gay marriages justify their position by the concept of love. These supporters of gay marriages feel as though gay people are being deprived of their right to love. Many people believe that gay people deserve the right to love and to take that love and form a marriage. These people believe that gays want to feel justified, meaning that as a couple they should be able to define their own marriage for themselves and make their own set of rules. Supports of same-sex marriages feel as though homosexuals are being deprived of their God given right to get married. They believe that arguments against same sex marriages are unconstitutional, and they simply do not justify a ban on same sex marriages. It is not the idea of two people of the same sex getting married that frightens people so much, but it is the thought of change and the fact that the federal government will redefine marriage to allow same sex unions. When people picture the results of same sex marriages, they see images of unstable homes. Everyone would probably agree that homosexuality has changed our society, and legalizing same sex marriages is not likely to be an exception. It would be an injustice to discriminate against a person if he or she were…

Marriage is known to be a foundation between a man and a women and if two of the same sex are unified, individuals view that as wrong. Relationships of the same sex are often referred to being immoral and a social experiment. Some religions feared that if gay marriage became legal that the churches would be forced to marry gay couples at their will. After researching this specific topic, I truly believe that it is safe to say that the pros outweigh the cons in this discuss in my own belief. As well as in my opinion, I feel that as long as there is peace, love will be found. If we the people chose to abide by the Constitution than that is what needs to happen. People will forever have their own opinions but if others are happy it should not matter if it does not affect you or your life. Gay marriage was legalized and though individuals think that is wrong on the Constitutions part, they need to realize that we are America the free and even if the same genders are allowed to marry, we are still free as a…

Many same-sex couples want the right to get married because they are in love. Many, in fact, have spent the last 10, 20 or 50 years with that person, and they want to honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer. By making a commitment to stand together in good times and bad, through all the joys and challenges family life brings, and to show that off to the public, just like other married couples. Same sex marriage should be legalized because they have a right as individuals of the United States to love whoever they want, and whoever makes them happy, and as citizens of the U.S., they should not be discriminated against based on sexuality.…

I think love is love and why should somebody not be allowed to get married based on their sexuality? It doesn't change anything nor does it affect anyone. If someone is happier being married to the same sex why are we saying no, how is it any different to a man and woman being married? Yes man and woman were created to love each other and conceive a child but a gay couple can adopt or foster an orphan. It actually helps out to children who have never had parents…

"Most supporters of same-sex marriage contend that gay and lesbian couples should be treated no differently than their heterosexual counterparts and that they should be able to marry like anyone else" (Masci, par. 2). Gay marriage may conflict with some religions, but who's to say what people can believe in? Many people believe, or do not believe, in many different things and it is up to the homosexual and what he or she believes in to determine whether that person can get married or not. Gays shouldn't be treated differently, because they are regular people like everyone else in the world. Besides, denying gays of marriage "is a violation of religious freedom… [and] the First Amendment of the Constitution clearly states that a person's religious views or lack thereof must be protected" (Messerli, par. 2).…

I have gay friends and I know how strongly they believe in their rights but marriage isn't something that should be in the mix. I don't even think marriage is a government decision, frankly. Only God can recognize a marriage, not a government. Personally speaking, every couple should get a civil union issued from the government that entitles you to the basic rights of a marriage now, like sharing medical insurance or hospital visits. That would be that, and everybody would have equal rights. But if a man and woman want to get married in God's name they can go to a church and ask to be married. After those vows they can be man and wife. Simple. Yet, I know there will be people that still aren't happy. What these people don't realize is that this is an issue that they can't change. It is the word of God and God's will is final.…

Legalizing gay marriage should not harm any body since you have the right to choose who your partner is. Most of the people who are against gay marriage say that it is bad because it goes against their religion or its values and this should not be like that because everybody is different and everybody has the right to choose your religion and your values. Now gay marriage is being more accepted and its legal in 12 us states, however people are against it because they say that marriage is between a woman and a man and not a man and man or a woman and a woman they also say gay couples cannot raise a child and this is completely false because they have done studies where children are raised with gay parents and they are successful people and most of them are totally straight people because gay parents are more open minded and…
