Food Log Analysis Essay
As you can see from the above chart, the majority of my food consumed was carbohydrates at 45% of my diet. The second highest was proteins at 29% and followed closely with sugars at 21%. The smallest category was fats with only 5%. The three days that I chose for my food log were Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I knew that I wanted to get my three days in before the Super Bowl due to the fact that I ate a good amount of terrible football food on Sunday. I found most of my calories through Calorieking with a few coming directly from the food label on the package. I tried to use the DOR website, but I found it to be very confusing and not helpful. For my journal, I first tracked the three days and then went back and did the calories. With the DOR website, you are not …show more content…
I know that sounds bad, but I do not consider myself to have healthy eating habits. I thought I would have had a higher percentage. I was also surprised on my total amount of calories for each day. I thought each day's total would've been higher especially Friday since I had Starbucks and a large dinner. I would like to make some changes in my diet. I have already cut out pop and I have lost about 5 pounds in the last 6 weeks. I would like to cut my sugar category down a little bit and add that percentage into proteins.
I feel as teachers we need to set examples for our students and show them healthy eating habits. If we are drinking pop throughout the whole day, they will see that as an okay habit to have. We also need to make healthier lunch choices and also promote eating a good, filling breakfast before coming to school. I feel that children struggle the most when it comes to snacking. For me, when I’m board, I just want to snack and have something to much on and it usually isn't healthy. I think it would help children if they healthy snack options at home instead of food full of sugar and

This helps me to get the crunch I like and also keep my caloric intake at a minimum.…

I pretty much had a balanced diet in terms of having each food group represented in my daily intake. I plan on to keeping my muscle mass, so I pretty much had a diet plan before. Three-Day Diet Analysis

I am not a picky eater or one who watches what I eat. I enjoy cooking and I love to eat food that is bad for me. My favorite meal is fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, turnip greens and corn bread. I am from the south where we use food as a comfort item. When we are happy, sad, mad or just board we eat. We have festivals to celebrate the food we eat. My diet is way off the SuperTrackers recommendations. I eat mainly one meal a day sometimes two. I do not eat a lot of fresh fruits. I need to stop drinking so many soft drinks and I should take out the sugar in my tea. I consumed little to no fresh fruits on a daily basis. I eat a lot of protein, but still not what I should eat daily I only ate around 40% of what I should have. One thing I should do is eat more of the good foods and do less snacking during the day. I am going to make myself a promise to eat at least one fresh fruit a day. I went and bought strawberries and cantaloupe so I can eat a little better. I know this is only a small fix and will only work if I stick to it. I can start to measure my food portions so I do not over eat. This will help me watch the amount of fats and starches that I take in. I love broccoli and could eat more of it, it is full of fiber and nutrients that are good for me.…

All humans are heterotrophic organisms (organisms that live off the organic compounds produced by autotrophic organisms (create their own organic compounds). We get these organic molecules from what we call food (a nutritious substance that is used or absorbed to maintain life and growth). We measure things based on 1000 calories (The energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius). In food we measure in Calories (which is a kilocalorie). The organic molecules (any member of a large class of chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon) that humans use are lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids. These organic molecules are used to produce ATP (Adenosine triphosphate). We break down these macromolecules (large biological molecule) by a process called digestion (when enzymes break down large molecules into smaller ones). This is also a catabolic reaction (a metabolic reaction that results in the breakdown of complex molecules) Humans use different process to break down these macromolecules. Carbohydrates (contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen and can be broken) are broken down through cellular respiration (The process in which a cell breaks down sugar or other organic compounds to release energy used for cellular work). This process includes glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation, the kreb cycle, and the electron transport chain. The theoretical ATP output by this process is 36 ATP per glucose (C6H1206). Lipids are broken down to fatty acid chains and through a process called beta oxidation; the fatty acid chain is broken down to many acetyl-Co A, which then enters cellular respiration at the Kreb cycle. Proteins are broken down to amino acids. Through a process called deamination (removing the amino group of an amino acid). The enzyme that causes this is called deaminases (enzyme that performs deamination). We then have pyruvate which enters at pyruvate oxidation. Last, nucleic acids turn into nucleotides and enter the Kreb…
