Facilitator Role In The Service Learning Project

My role in the service learning project is the facilitator. The facilitator’s role in service learning is to lead team discussions and coordinate the team’s actions. This role is very important since the facilitator helps make sure that the team is doing what they are supposed to do it is crucial to the outcome of the project. Doing a service learning project at a place such as the ASPCA seems like nothing but fun, but there is more work involved than just that. It is a learning process where you grow from your experiences and are able to utilize the skills that you have learned in the JROTC classroom. One skill being your leadership skill. For the reason that, since there is an overflow of animals at the shelter many have to be euthanized. But, using our JROTC skills it will be simple to get as many animals as possible adopted by using a lot of determination. It can be done without losing any of the lives of these animals. Also, if you have a fear about talking to new people or a fear of animals. You can use your personal courage that you learn at school to get over it. Which will not only help you become a better citizen. But a better server to the many animals that you will be helping. As well as, getting these animals homes you get the satisfaction that they are no longer in the horrible situations, such as; dog-fighting, puppy mills, and neglect. Furthermore, you are able to appreciate that these animals are getting a second chance that not every animal can get. Which makes you an honorable person to help these animals that don’t have a voice to help themselves out these situations. When you leave the shelter you leave with more knowledge of the things that the animals would got through without any volunteers. It is simple to spend a couple of hours with these animals and develop a bond with them. By doing that you are more likely to go back and save some animals from their deaths. What you learn from this project is that there is always something that you can do to better your community. You learn that not only the people in your community are suffering, but also the animals that a part of it. Which makes it worse since they cannot signal you on their sufferings. It is hard work, but it needs to be done because we can’t just allow anyone take advantage of these poor animals that only want love and affection. Though it may seem as if you’re only helping a few of these animals. To them it means the world, and that means everything. Just because you can make difference even as small as that it impacts your community so much. It allows for more abused animals to be found. From getting your team together to help animals you can get more people involved and spread the
