Explain Why We Should Not Have An Extra Hour For Tutorials
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world, and what person overuses any weapon? The average high school student spends 85% of their time on school/school work there is no need to add on. We believe that we should not have an extra hour for tutorials because we already have two required classes meant to help with subjects of confusion, teachers stay before and after school to provide extra help, and some students have extra-curricular activities to attend after school. First, while attending our school, we are given two classes devoted to in-school homework and tutorial time, which includes our avid and advisory period. During our Avid period, we are provided two days out of the week to discuss and assist our peers with uncertainty on core subjects in school. A tutorial request form is required and used to show the teachers and tutors where the student’s perplexity originates from. After this is found, the confusion is solved and we move onto the next puzzled student. Not to mention that we do tutorial request …show more content…
They take time out of their confidential, independent lives to assist us. If a student is given homework that is not fully intelligible they are able to attend before and/or after-school tutorials for reinforcement on the subject. The school also provides transportation that helps the students get home if they don’t have a way to get back after tutorials. Along with homework help, tutorials are also a time to ask questions about tests, whether it is upcoming or former to provide a better outcome in the future. Teachers attempt to allocate the environment of understanding and cooperation. This environment allows students to feel non-hypocritical, which makes guidance much more simple for them to

Some say that by extending the day by two hours it will give a chance for students to receive extra help and thus they will have to do less homework when they are at home. However, in our school students are offered time in the morning, at lunch and after school if they need any additional help with their homework. If their teacher is not available to them, another teacher who teaches the same course would be glad to help in whatever way they can. If a student is not able to attend these additional hours, they can just ask questions during class because half of the class is usually devoted to in-class work. The idea of extending the hours that students spend in school is preposterous – what is the need when our school already conveniently provides extra help for its students?…

In schools there are many factors that come to play when determining how and what you are learning. Parental involvement helps because it motivates a child to take their work seriously to keep them on their toes, but it is not necessary. Students could go through school by themselves with their own motivation; they believe they could work hard, they believe they will succeed, they believe in the future that lies ahead of them, they believe in themselves, so they will do whatever they can to achieve that, but this is not always the case for every student. Students get or learn the attitude of success and the will of working hard from the atmosphere around them, whether it be constantly positive or constantly negative. Teachers play a big role in a student’s education because that is their job: to teach students, to get them an education.…

The session starts with the tutor inquiring the assignment from the student—to gain clarification on the assignment. The student is talkative and provides the page length, and questions that are required to be answered. After, the tutor ‘quick-reads’ the questions, she asks the student an open-ended question, “I would like to know what you are worried about and what you want to look for as we read through this”. By asking these open-ended questions, the tutor is allowing…

It allows them to participate in metacognition and realize where they went wrong before an eruption stage may occur. The students are able to feel as though they are controlling their behavior and not to get out of control and hurt those around them. It is extra training for all the professionals involved but if it is able to reduce student crises, suspension, and increases attendance rates then I don’t see why it is not a suburb addition to school systems to have for their students. The students will be able to feel capable and they will connect with you on a personal level. Those are two incredibly important things for a student to feel in your classroom.…

It’s not only beneficial for students, its great for teachers as well. Teachers are always scrambling for the first two-three minutes of class just trying to get thing together. Putting on more time would get rid of that problem by allowing teachers to get things ready an set up for the class. Are teachers are not robots, not yet at least. They need to use the restroom too. So instead of leaving during the middle of class to go, they would now have plenty of time to do their business before class even starts. However the bad thing about adding more time is that they get a little less class time. So doing this would be working up to when the bell rings.…

Kids will go insane if the school board adds one and a half hours to school. Children are already stressed about SOLs and homework. We shouldn't put more pressure on them. The school board should add more days to the school days to the school year than adding more hours. Adding more time will cause more problems and stress. The school board should not add one and a half hours board because students will complain more, teachers will have to stay longer after the school day, and it would limit after-school activities.…

First of all, when parents help with homework, kids benefit academically. Parents shouldn’t give their kid the answer, but they can help them by correcting them when they’re wrong and explaining what they should do to solve the problem. Another way parents can help without giving the answer away is by quizzing them on a vocabulary or math test that’s coming up. They can also help kids find a good, quiet place to do homework so that they’re not…

The problem isn’t the students, more likely the problem comes from schools that haven’t laid a proper system to educate these children into becoming the best they can to achieve in the future. In order to increase student success in Anaheim, schools must have programs such as mandatory after school study halls and activities. In “Marita’s Bargain” by Malcolm Gladwell, I’ve picked up my first quote saying “I think that extended amount of time gives you the chance as a teacher to explain things, and more time for the kids to sit and digest everything that’s going on” (10). I see this as a support for my argument because it says that more school time can give teachers the chance to have more time with the students and…
