Evaluate the effectiveness of approaches to learning and teaching in own specialist area in meeting needs of learners * Working with a diverse range of adult learners who have been long term unemployed, it is easy to fall into the trap of focusing on the needs of some learners and not others. Rogers,a Humanist theorists, argues that teachers should establish ‘an atmosphere in which their learners feel comfortable and able to discuss new ideas.’ (Gravells, 2012, p.32). This would ensure that my learners are not solely reliant on me for learning, but actively explore the issues around employability and personal development for themselves – this is the first step in a move

Some ISP’s are larger than others, the larger ones have their own high speed leased lines, this means they are less dependent on telecommunication provider and therefore can provide customers with a better service. More contemporary views of learning recognize the importance of allowing students to take control of their own learning by participating in active learning, which includes a variety of teaching methods such as small group discussions and teacher driven questioning. (Farrell, n.d.). This is why I find this assumption to be flawed because if active learning is becoming a more common way of learning, then in this case a student’s role is not to be a passive recipient of knowledge as he or she is expected to transfer knowledge through active learning. I believe that a student’s role is to be an active learner because active learning allows students to, according to Jill Beloff Farrell, actively construct not only their own, but others’ knowledge, instead of just being passive recipients of knowledge. If a student is…
