Essay On Trauma Nurse
For my career I choose Trauma nurse . I've always know that I wanted to pursue my career in the medical field I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in. I started watching this TV show called Grey’s Anatomy and that's when I realized that I wanted to be a Trauma nurse . It is exciting, challenging, and extremely rewarding and that is why I choose to become a Trauma nurse . You get these traumas that come in and you adrenalin just starts pumping and that's in my opinion the best feeling in the world . You have this person lying on the table and you have to be the one to decide what to do and how to save this person's life . Trauma nurses can work in emergency rooms and other chaotic environments, and often need to coordinate with doctors family members and other nurses . They typically work twelve hour shifts a day. The annual salary for a trauma nurse is $60,000 dollars. Hourly wage is between $20.40 and $38.65. This career has a 23% growth rate. Daily duties of a trauma nurse includes providing careful nursing interventions in emergency situations , Triage patients and evaluate the seriousness of the patients injuries, provide IV insertions, intubation , medicine administrations, blood drawings and many other medical procedures . They also prep patients for surgery or diagnostic test. The most challenging part of this career in my opinion is having a patient die in your hands.
You must complete 1000 clinical hours in an emergency unit/department which is on the job training. The most common route to become a trauma nurse is acquiring an RN degree and a Bachelor's degree and then earning a certificate in trauma nursing. It typically takes two to three years to complete . I like many different things about this career choice. Being able to save people's lives, fast paced environment , the adrenaline rush , different injuries , the challenges and most important the rewarding feeling. I would like to work locally maybe in Little Rock or North Little
