An electric car is powered by an electric motor instead of a gasoline engine. The electric motor gets energy from a controller, which regulates the amount of power transmitted throughout the vehicle, based on the driver’s use of an accelerator pedal. The electric motors give electric cars instant torque, creating a strong and smooth acceleration pattern. Electric cars are about three times more efficient than cars with an internal combustion engine. A pure-battery electric car uses energy stored in the rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged by common household electricity. Compared with regular gasoline cars, electric cars do not produce tailpipe emissions, does not rely on gas, and are cheaper to operate. But of course the process of producing the electricity for these types of vehicles creates further upstream of utility company’s smokestack. Regular gasoline cars produce greenhouse gases and air pollution, which nowadays is one of the most critical environmental issues to people’s life.
