Jhene Aiko, a new R&B artist signed to No I.D.’s Atrium Records (a Def Jam Records affiliate), hails from the entertainment capital of Los Angeles, California. At the very young age of 13, she was signed to T.U.G./Epic Records. The entertainment industry pressures proved to be very overwhelming for the young artist who later left the label to focus on school and being…
Before the 600s, trade routes in Africa weren’t used nearly as much as they are today…
I agree with Nisey Williams as I too believe that pop culture has a very bad influence on Teens. The teens are so much influenced by their rock stars that they tend to copy every style of their favorite singer. The teens copy everything from their hair to shoes, their clothes and makeup, their way of talking and walking. They also get their bodies tattooed and skin pierced like their rock stars. Moreover to make matters worse, the fashion industry and media add the spice to the popularization of pop culture. The magazines and television channels show half naked pictures and videos of rock stars and pop singers. Music videos and stage show are picturized and performed in see through clothes and this leaves a great impact on the teens that follow them like disciples. The youngsters become so crazy following…
Pop rock originated in roughly the 1950s, is a take on rock music but with a much lighter and smoother approach which tends lean further towards commercial pop rather than rock music as the decades go by. Pop rock takes inspiration by the beats and arrangements that are featured in rock music but try to accentuate professional songwriting, editing and recording…
Overall celebrities influence and parental influence can be both bad and good. But most of celebrities influence on teens and adolescents are not good because they are very gullible at this time in their life. The only influence they should have is parental influence because their parents wouldn’t steer them in the wrong directions.…
The Sixties were an exciting revolutionary period of time with great social and technological change. Some people called it the "decade of discontent" because of the race riots in Detroit and La, and the demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Other people called it the decade of "peace, love, and harmony". It was called this because of the peace movement and the emergence of the flower children. (Britannica) The sixties were about assassination, unforgettable fashion, new styles of music, civil rights, gay and women's liberation, Vietnam, Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, peace marches, sexual freedom, drug experimentation, and Woodstock. All of these components caused a revolutionary change in the world of popular Music.…

Several radio stations nowadays feature pop songs because they are somehow catchy and popular, hence the name of the genre. Making a new pop hit on the radio is very difficult because there are so many creative aspects in a typical pop song. In addition to that, all pop songs are different with very unique components to them.…
Rock & Roll is universally agreed upon as a melting pot of musical genres. Originating from the African-American stylings of jazz and blues, as well as western influences of swing and country, Rock & Roll ushered in an era of music midway through the 20th century. Artists like Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Elvis Presley to name a few, bestowed unique characteristics to the art and culture of Rock & Roll. Though this may seem like a harmless statement, there are some who claim Rock & Roll music was outright stolen from black artists. Claims like these are backed up with ideas alleging Rock & Roll is “black” music and Elvis Pressley is the king of Rock & Roll.…
Music throughout the United States has always been in a constant evolutionary cycle within popular culture, and while its predecessors have been fundamentally built upon as time goes on, new styles are eventually created in their place. New forms of music are ultimately integrated into mainstream cultures and have shown to have a positive impact on the relations of people living throughout the world. Music is a vital concept for humanity because it expresses the significance of mainstream culture, the social transformation that ideas produce in communities, and lastly the development of natural identities. Music will never stop growing, changing, or evolving because it’s involved with creativity, “sonic integration”, industry development, and…

Pop music is supposed to inspire and create an experience that no other type of music can accomplish; something Blackout not only did for pop music fans, but it inspired a whole generation of new artists. Obviously the electronic, synth, urban and dance genres have been around for quite some time now, but has any of it been fused together so perfectly for a mainstream audience? The answer is no. So much of the pop music today is urban, synth, and experimental with the mainstream club beats to accompany it, and you can’t look past Blackout and find that. It’s too bad the music contained in this album isn’t taken seriously, due to the misconceptions about the artist. In fact, some people hear that name and eyes tend to roll. She’s been taken for a joke, stereotyped and unrecognized for her artistry but it’s good to note that she herself was an Executive-Producer for the album. I’m not going to make this about her or her personal life, all though it’s hard not to, but this album didn’t get half as much praise as it should have and it was probably due to fiasco that was going on in her personal life. With that said, the album was still able to hold it’s own with no promotion. This all…
The rock and pop groups of today are primarily concerned with an image they are trying to achieve through music videos. Bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn are chief examples of groups who try to attain a hard-core image but are failing. They claim to have a large underground following but in reality they are just another MTV band that is identified by its multi-million dollar music videos. If you have to spend that much money on a video you must be compensating for something. This is true with groups like the Backstreet Boys, N'sync and Brittany Spears. Without their music videos they would be nothing. The songs that these groups produce are very simple pop tunes that thrive off the bands look and fashion statements.…
In this essay I think Aaron Copland’s essay how we listen to music is better because it gives examples and feelings of why and reasons that people listen to music. In Copland’s essay he says there are different planes of music the first one is the sensuous plane, the second is the expressive plane, and the third is the sheerly musical plane and in Reagon says there are also different types of music but he describes it as one the spirituals sung by the college choir, two rhythm ‘n’ blues, and third church music and as they describe the different types of music but as they said the different types of music but Copland says the different types of emotions and Reagon’s essays says the different types of music that black people sing.…
Music is such an essential part of humanity. For every generation is a different set of music. Some maybe strange to hear and some too noisy to understand. There are lots of kinds music, jazz, rock, country music, folk, classical, pop music and others. But the most youth oriented kind of music is pop music. Today, Pop music is relatively clear medium of communication of youth to its pears and surroundings. Older generations and youngsters may sometimes established conflicts with this type of music. They sometimes call it generation gap, but it’s not. It’s just a matter of familiarity and preference. Pop music is not necessarily a taboo for the old generation. They love pop music too. Endurance of loud sounds to the sensitive auditory nerves of older people makes the difference in preference. But understanding can patch up the difference. Lowering the volume of sounds can make a big difference in respect to the older people.…
