Imagine sitting in a dark theater. There are excited voices chattering all around. All of the sudden, music starts playing and the chattering elevates into screams and shouts. The curtains open and The Beatles are on stage. Their wonderful voices, ranging from high to low, form a beautiful melody. If that isn’t considered art, then what is? Music is art, and The Beatles were awarding winning artists that had a major influence on pop culture.…

Since the beginning of Rock and Roll in 1951, this music changed the life of million of teenagers who started to feel freedom inside them. In addition, the teenagers began to change their clothes and customs, and they began to mix the Rock and Roll with drugs. In fact, they saw Rock and Roll like a life style. On the other hand, classical music was more adapt for people older than 30. Moreover, these people are cultural persons, who are teachers, doctors, lawyers, and people with university knowledge. This music help them to relax, and be more focus in their studies. Furthermore, these people dress well, and they like to go to opera, museums, and…
Music, a defining aspect of Human culture for centuries, is influenced heavily by the social institutions of the time. This can be most evident in “pop”, short for “popular”, music. Music is a demonstrative language of culture. It tells a story, conveys ideas, opinions, and emotions of life experiences. Music has the power to link generations. In recent history such themes include Jazz and blues, the Big Band era, country, rap, and various other genres of music. Each of these classes of music are drawn from and represent the particular culture and time of the background of the artist or the events that inspired it.…
People listen to music for a variety of reasons. Some listen to music to relax in which it serves as a sort of escape from everyday life, some because they are a fan and follow a certain artist, and others because they can relate the lyrics to their own personal experiences. Whichever the case may be, music has and continues to serve an important role in people’s lives.…
Popular music differs from other genres of music because with other genres of music they are constrained to that genre meaning that have to fit that group and really venture outside that box and still be called that genre. As for popular music, I believe it does just the opposite: it isn 't constrained, it doesn 't fit a model, it dares to be different, and it evokes all genres of music. One popular music genre is rock, rock music has gone though many changes in the recent years and has received countless backlash for those changes. I believe Richard Brookhiser said it best "Rock is a form of popular culture that aims downward instead of aiming up. Rather than aspiring, it despires" (Brookhiser, 385). I feel that Brookhiser said this because as that the century progresses and technology progresses we are no longer shocked. So popular rock artists try to push the limits of our society, but in doing so it brings the popular culture down. "If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience"(Shaw). Popular rock music of today has had the same effect on older generations as it has had 50 year ago granted, the band names and styles of dress have changed, but the disapproval of the music hasnt. Michael Budds once said that " It can be argued, however, that the passion and energy expended in attempts to alter or suppress rock and roll expression have only spurred rockers to flaunt "objectionable" aspects of their music and worldview in a spirit of defiant celebration"(Budds, Pg. 392, 2). Historical Rock music was seen as a defiant celebration that people believed promoted sex, violence, and drugs. In some cases…
Pop music for me isn’t just a genre, it’s a lifestyle. Pop is basically the soundtrack to my life.…
Let's start out with the positive affects of music on our young adolescents. In some opinions, when children are in school, some of them focus better when listening to music then without. Another thing that is good about most songs today is that music may uplift kids when they are in a downed mood. With other music like classical or even just relaxing music, it can make the most “hyper” children relax or even fall asleep. Other music can inspire our youth. For example, when working out, having a “metal” type of song on can motivate people to work-out a little harder. There are many positive perspectives on music from the 20th and 21st century but we can not just rule out the more negative properties of not only current music.…
“Real music is bound to express, not to impress.” This one sentence, explains everything we have to understand about music. For most people, music is merely food for the ears, but for some, it also feeds the mind and the soul. People who see music this way are sort of gifted with the knowledge of a language that is neither taught nor learned; a language that is understood with the heart. Those people understand the muted emotions and the unspoken messages the composers wish to convey. Not many appreciate rock music. Nowadays, people are more engrossed in mainstream music. Mainstream is something that is done, heard, or seen by the majority of this population. In other words, people would like it better to stay in track of popular songs and artists loved by many, than those that are out of favor.…
Many in this world do not see all types of music being a form of art. When we think of music being art, we more than often think of the blues, broadway or pop. We think of this as artful music because of the story being told, and how beautiful it is to listen to. We as a society often don’t find hip hop and rap beautiful, we think it's harsh and ugly. Hip hop and rap is very popular in the year 2016 much like broadway style dancing was in 1923. Anyone can spout words out of their mouth and call it singing, but that does not make it beautiful, and meaningful. Music has been around for centuries and it will stay around forever. It is a sign of anger, joy, sadness, and love.…
The Center's collection documents the diversity of American music. We take as our starting point the European and African origins of American culture, selecting items which document the music of our national vernacular culture. From the 18th to early 20th century music was disseminated largely in printed form: sheet music, songsters, broadsides, instrumental instruction books and song anthologies. After 1920 recorded sound gained dominance. The Center's collection reflects this change in the commodification of music.…

Music is a different type of art, the beat in a song, or track, or rhythm, matches your heartbeat, beating together as one. Music is a very unique source of art, babies will clap to music, not just an ordinary sound, termites bite faster in music, and bees work better and harder once hearing music. There are many other forms of art, which work on the same lines. To sum it all up, art is a part of us, and that is our relationship with art.…
