English 101 Reflective Report
This semester in English 101 has been very demanding for me. In previous years, I generally completed my writing assignments with ease and without having to put much thought or effort into them, but this year, I was required to work for many hours on each of my papers and to proofread them many times in order to receive a good grade. For example, I learned that if I wanted to reach my audience, I had to organize my paper in such a way that everyone could easily understand the organization and the logic behind my ideas. Furthermore, for the first time in my high school career, I welcomed and appreciated the feedback of my peers as a tool that could help with the drafting of my academic papers. I chose to examine three articles from my portfolio …show more content…
For example, creating research questions and using them as a guide for my research throughout the writing of the research paper helped me stay focused while doing my research, and because I had to find sources of information that answered my research questions, my research questions also helped me determine whether a source was directly relevant to my topic. Furthermore, being required to submit annotated bibliographies each week forced and motivated me to carefully examine scholarly sources for credibility and allowed me to begin to gather supporting evidence and formulate claims for the thesis of my research paper ahead of time. Moreover, creating and submitting the outline of the research paper allowed me to carefully examine the effectiveness of the organization of my claims for my research paper and allowed me to plan the flow and the structure of my research paper in order to effectively present my ideas on the topic to my readers. During the actual drafting of my research paper, I was able to use the outline as my guide for writing the paper and to use the annotated bibliographies to quickly refer to the information that I had gathered from my sources without having to reread my sources. Consequently, writing the final draft of this research paper was more effortless than writing the final draft of any of the previous papers because I had already familiarized myself with the information and the structure that I was going to implement into my research paper. Overall, writing this research paper helped me learn how to plan a research paper ahead of time and how to manage time while drafting a research

As I began English 111 this summer I thought I was a good writer unfortunately. I was not skilled in writing like I expected. As I progressed in in this course it has become evident to me I lacked the proper structure when formulating an essay. I essentially saw that I was going to need a lot of improvement when devising a good thesis statement and fixing grammatic errors. I also had to refrain from using sentence fragments to improve the flow of my writing. Despite, all the obstacles, I have developed the skills needed to formulate an essay. However, this course has given me the knowledge needed to succeed in writing many well-structured papers.…

Over the course of the past three months, I have had the distinct pleasure of testing my writing capabilities through the Introduction to College Writing course. I have always had a passion for writing in all forms, but in previous years, the course work in grade-level English classes have been unchallenging of my writing ability. I have been heavily involved in Bonneville High School’s newspaper through journalism since my freshman year. This allowed me to strengthen my writing capability as I was drafting throughout the entire school year. I have never truly had to apply myself until I enrolled in English 101. Since the beginning of the class, I have faced various hardships while writing essays in unfamiliar styles, such as drafting a response to a scholarly article and synthesizing opposing perspectives. I have learned that I am more than capable in writing in different styles and that all of my work will be quality content regardless of the topic. I overcame the obstacles that have challenged me, and my essays exhibit that I am fully prepared to continue my work in English 102.…

In my opinion, it is very challenging job to find a balance between providing adequate pain medications for suitable candidates and preventing these medications from being misused and abused. Providing care with a holistic approach will allow an FNP the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with their patients. As a result, they can easily monitor patients' use of opioids over time and frequently assess patients' conditions to determine the need for continuing pain medication. Even more important is the need to educate patients about the benefit and the risk when using opioids as well as how to properly discard unused medication. Last but not least, an NP should keep up with current research for alternative pain management such as…

My former English professor would always say “find a way 101”, whenever a student found themselves struggling in her class. At first I did not understand why she was so rude to her students, this was until after I graduated high school when I realized I was wrong. She was not rude, she was not mean, she was preparing her students for college level English classes. Reflecting on my past encounter with the toughest teacher at my former high school, I can say I feel prepared for a college level class. Although I may have taken the most rigorous class in high school, that does not mean I am expected to pass without falling short. However, I am certain that I am ready for the challenges that my professor will assign me in the fall.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

Extremely worried, her parents inquired regarding their daughter's future, alleviating their worries, the doctor's advice to them was to be diligent and "treat her as you would a normal child." Knowing I have been different did not stop me from participating fully in life, especially during my childhood. In December 2012, we received the wonderful news that the final hole had closed. The odds were in my favor since I have been lucky to have never needed surgery, nor required hospital care from a critical injury. I believe that there is a reason I exist on this earth; and my blueprint…

This class has given me the opportunity to not only improve my writing but, also learn a lot about myself as a writer. I had never thought about how I approached the act of writing and what I felt about writing before coming to this class. I always tried my best to follow the guidelines and wrote typical essays with introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. English 1102 gave me the liberty and occasion to understand the purpose of writing and my feelings on writing. I have come to a realization this semester that I dislike academic papers because they restrict my thoughts and creativity. I like writing papers where I can manipulate the structure and confuse the readers. I also like getting emotions out of anyone who reads my writing pieces. My readers can hate my writing, like it, relate to it, or absolutely despise it as long as they feel something towards it. A scientific article rarely gets any emotions out to its readers.…
