1.1 Explain what is meant by:
• DIVERSITY – meaning up holding the difference between everyone along with treating everyone’s value, beliefs and backgrounds even their life/styles with total respect.
• EQUALITY – ensuring everyone with your workplace has been given equal opportunities, enabling their rights so therefore helping to prevent discrimination.
• Inclusion – to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity regardless of age gender or background. Enhancing an individual’s feeling of being included and a feeling of belonging.
• DISCRIMINATION – unfair treatment of all individuals or group regardless of their age, race, gender, background or sexual orientations. Being treated unfairly then someone else.

2.1 Describe key legislation and codes of practice relating to diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination in adult social care setting.

• Human Rights Act – was an Act passed by law in the UK in 1998. This Act means that everyone can defend their own rights within the UK court of law.
• Equality Act – is legislation put in place to support to give equal right and give opportunity to individuals regardless of age, gender, whether there a disability, sex orientation, race and cultures. Within health and social care this legislation helps prompt diversity, equality and inclusion.
• Mental Capacity Act 2005 – enables the protection and empowerment of an individual who many have the lack of capacity to make informed decision regarding their own care or treatment. This Act applies to individuals over the age of 16 years.
• The Care Act 2014 – this legislation supports individuals with the 6 principles that ensure the underpinning all support with vulnerable adults. These will ensure that all adults to receive the support which they have chosen with their consent
2.2 Explain the possible consequences of not actively complying with legislation and codes of practice relating to diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination in adult social care
