Disney Persuasive Essay
I strongly disagree with Fowls comments. He believes that Disney is taking over children's lives and that it reinforces a simplistic and narrow view of life. I do not believe that this is correct. Every little girl wants to be a beautiful princess and every boy, a big, strong man, who fights off the bad guys. These are just dreams though and we want to give our youth something to believe in.

I also believe that Disney is only entertainment. If it was half as bad as Fowl has made it out to be, parents that showed these so called bad movies to their children would have realized it already and put a stop to it. The point is that it is up to the parent to show it to their children and yet Disney is still so big and still watched by so many, …show more content…
It is awful that some children do grow up surrounded by these things, but other children should only be shown the best parts of life so they know which way of life is the right path to pick. If a child sees an attractive actor or actress using drugs, how will the portray that? Maybe they will see it as, if you want to be attractive that you should take drugs? Or you could show them Beauty and the Beast for instance and they will see a pretty girl called Bell reading books and learn that having and education is the correct way. I don't understand what Fowl thinks he will achieve by showing that the bad guys can win in movies. Maybe the children watching will see it and think that if they are bullied, they have to put up with it or maybe that they should be the bully because to be powerful, you have to be mean and make people afraid of you. Or maybe even if you see someone being bullied or being hurt by someone else that you should stand by and let it happen or join in and make it worse because you have seen it in a movie and it is O.K!

We have ratings on movies so that children cannot see bad films that contain bad things and yet Fowl wants to go and show some of these things to young children. Where is the sense in

    Since television had become a household product in 1947 it has been used by parents to help educate their children in a certain manner to which they may understand depending on their age. In present day America television shows such as Sesame Street and Reading Rainbow usually start by teaching basic skills such as reading, writing, and spelling to infants by using different methods such as the alphabet song to make it easier for kids to comprehend. These shows and others alike also began to teach morality such as sharing, doing your part, and helping others less fortunate by using certain mascots such as a giant purple dinosaur to appeal to their childish behavior while teaching them lessons they will use all of their life. Once these lessons are fully comprehended by the kids villains, such as Scar from The Lion king and Plankton from SpongeBob, specifically geared toward children were introduced to expose children to character traits that opposed the very morals that were taught to them. These villains were usually inherently evil usually having no reason to oppose the hero other than simple emotions such as jealously or greed being their motivation to do actions that are deemed as bad such as lying, cheating, and stealing. As these kids grow up and deal with certain situations with real villains in their own life their perception of true evil changes as they experience more own their own and develop more complex in depth relationships with people. As these kids mature into teens and adults that can comprehend more complex emotions, the villains that are portrayed in the media obtain more human like features.…

    The entertainment district is a smart one. They know what characteristics capture the attention of viewers and which ones don’t. That is why we can see a clear pattern in our movies. Some blockbusters of 2012 include: The Hunger Games, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall and the Avengers. All four feature “against the grain” heroes, all four features violence and all four are not completely ethically sound. The fact that viewers are crazed about these kinds of movies speaks to something about our own morals. In our quest for good morals, we are somehow more attracted to immoral actions than moral ones. Something my friend said to me with the release of Black Swan sums up this point nicely, “I wanted to see Black Swan because it sounded badass, then I heard about the lesbian scene and now I HAVE to see it.” It is these “badass” movies that capture the most viewers, earn the highest rating and excite the most people.
