First Day Of Highschool High school is a time in everyone’s life that they look forward to, the upperclassmen, the freedom, and the new experiences to come. High school is where you start to grow up and become who you want to be. I remember being in middle school and always looking up to the “bigger kids” and wanting to be just like them. But for me it was a different story. I mean yes, I was excited to meet new people and create new memories but being at school knowing no one was scary. Also coming from a school with 600 kids going to a new one with about 2,000 kids is a little intimidating. Being from Dracut you get used to all the familiar faces because it is such a small town. But since it was a new school in a new town there was so much to see. In middle school there was the option of continuing on in the public high school or going to the technical school, I chose the technical school which was in Tyngsboro but was a massive change in size. It was time for a change, although I was excited I was the only one out of my close group of friends who had chosen the technical school. But I wasn’t going to let their decision have an impact on mine. To this day I could not be happier with my decision. The leaves on the trees had just begun to change to most beautiful yellows, reds and oranges. The dew on the grass from the night before was still visible. The walk to the bus stop wasn’t too far from home, especially because I was caught up in conversation with old friends on my way there. The streets were foggy and barren with just a few passing cars every now and then. We discussed our summer adventures, and most of us shared the same excitement to get back to school. Stepping on the bus as a freshman is scary for anyone especially if most of the

So I finally get into the theater. I ignore the crackling, suction-cup feel of a floor that has had one too many sugary sodas dropped on it and carefully make my way to a seat far away from the sparse amount of people already inhabiting the theater. The large room is quiet, dark, and cool. Nothing else will ruin this night…or so I think.…

At just nine years of age, I had so many thoughts were following the pursuit of the adrenaline rushing through my mind. Lightning flashed just before thunder crackled in the cloudy sky. Cold drops of rain danced through the darkness, as if in a hurry to meet the ground. My feet splashed through ankle-deep puddles of mud and rain as I rushed to find shelter, the only important thing to me at that very moment in time.…

After my first year at Brien McMahon I had moved to another school called Norwalk High school. The first week was terrible I didn’t know anybody there which made class very boring. The mirror is an ever-changing piece of art. It sees all emotions and watches unconditionally with no cause or concern for its reflection. You can only see the present state of objects; it does not record the past or predict the future. We watch ourselves grow through mirrors throughout our life watching our bodies change shape and seeing all of our emotions. Some of us even practice in front of mirrors to enhance our talents such as singers and dancers. I have chosen Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” for a representation of my life. To quote Gandhi “Be the change you wish to see in the world”, I believe you should be able to see the change you wish to be and with a mirror you can watch the transformation.…

Several years ago I made a trip to Cape Town South Africa, and it was one of the most memorable trips of my life. The excitement of the unknown grew with each passing hour spent in the air, high above the earth. Though my sons and I had a planned five day excursion, I still couldn’t stop wondering what might still lie ahead. Would it be something about this new culture I was about to experience; or would it be something more, something about me?…

I remember getting out of my mom’s Rav4 that morning. The smell of autumn lingered in my nose as I sat waiting for her to come to the back and unbuckle me. I watched her as she walked first to the trunk of the car to get my backpack, and then finally to me. She held my backpack in one hand and held my hand in the other. We walked across a paved pathway covered in worn outlines of four square and hopscotch over to where other children were eagerly standing with their moms and dads. I looked around at my new classmates and though I didn’t know it then, most would turn out to be very good friends of mine.…

I was sorry for the people outdoor who were not allowed inside, regarding , once, I was stuck external, too. However, high school life is not always fun. Remember that our parents sent us to school to study and not just to mingle with people. We cannot avoid problems related to school like having no assignments and passing late projects (yeah, right!), brain-crashing and mind-sizzling examinations (oh, dear…), low and even failing grades (disgusting!) child-sent-to-office and parents-called stuff (uh-oh!) and a lot more! The bad thing is, some of us continue to experience the same problems each year.…

As I boarded the bus that fateful day, I thought of how this would work out. I wondered how all of my high school friends were doing. Everyone has heard or been told, “high school is what you make of it.” High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change in everybody. They say HIGH SCHOOL is the best part of growing up and being a teenager. It is where we can experience things, which we thought we can never make or do. It is where we discover and learn things in our own and it is where we learn to become independent. In my four years of studying here, I discovered that there is more to life than what we had imagined. I am able to learn many…
