David Petrous
David Petraeus is a retired military officer and public official. He gained his position as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency in December of 2011. He resigned from his job as The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency in November of 2012 due to an affair he was having with Paula Broadwell, which was discovered by the FBI. Petraeus was a four-star general who served over thirty years in the United States Army. In 2004, he was promoted to Lieutenant General. In 2007, he was promoted to General. In April of 2008, President Bush nominated General Petraeus to command U.S. Central Command headquartered in Tampa, Florida. This was quickly approved by the senate. In 2010 he was appointed to be the commanding general of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. In 2011, a year later, he was unanimously appointed to be the Director of the CIA. Petraeus resigned due to an affair he was having with Paula Broadwell. This affair was discovered by the FBI after Jill Kelley was receiving threatening e-mails from an anonymous sender. After research and high-tech tracking techniques, the e-mails were tracked to Paula Broadwell. After Broadwell was called in for questioning, she admitted to an affair with General David Petraeus. Her computer was then taken, and confidential documents were found, which led to further hacking and technical tactics done by the FBI to find out times, and the number of emails being sent between Broadwell and Petraeus. What does this say about America? I do not condone cheating, and I do not think this man’s having an affair behind his wife’s back is a good thing. But Petraeus was a respected military official, who did a lot for this country. He may not have been a good husband, but he was a good American who devoted a lot of time to this country. He should not have been forced to resign. If a very famous and respected man of the military can have his e-mail hacked by the FBI, then none of us are safe from
