The night grew long and the house became still, relaxed in the corner sat Curley, engrossed in a book. An abrupt creak came from the front door, his wife slithered in quickly. Her hair was a bit disheveled, lipstick was smeared, and she was holding her shoes in her hand. She started to stumble when closing the door behind her, hoping not wake up her husband and get his wrath.
“Where have you been?” spoke Curley while still looking at the book.
“Oh, you scared me!” shrieked Curley's wife while trying to catch her breath, “what are you doing up?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” Curley shouted, “where were ya?”
“Well, I was looking for you, of course,” his wife explained.
