Culture Essay

Ones culture can affect the way they see another person culture. We live in an extremely judgmental society and culture. Many times we view another culture for something much worse than they actually are.

Some people view an individual person a special way for something that happened in the past, that the person had no control over, like in the “Indians fathers plea” Wind Wolf wanted to play with a friend at school, so they went to ask the boy’s mother and she said “Because you are Indians and we are white I don’t want my kids growing up with kind of people”. The other child’s mother is saying that the history between the two cultures have had violent confrontations in the past. Her past cultural experiences have had her preserve a culture a different way that what they really are.
Hoy you see someone’s culture can also be affected by the media of your own culture. In the story “When Worlds Collide” by: Pico Iyer , Immigrants who are coming to America for the first time are flying into L.A.X. with the thought in their mind that L.A is going to be beautiful and clean with freedom everywhere and people all over greeting them and being extremely kind because of” images they brought over from Cops and Terminator 2” but in reality It’s not super clean in fact the air is quite smoggy and unclean, along with restrictions everywhere. So in the first few minutes they already at a place this is completely different from their own country but oddly similar. They were led astray from what they perceived our culture to be because of their own cultures media.
Some people say that cultures have no impact on the way we perceive other cultures, but from my experience our culture is extremely judgmental in the way we treat some other cultures. Take for instance Russia; our media along with other sources blast them for invading Ukraine. Our culture perceives their culture way differentially than how some other people in the world see

In the same way, culture affects how individuals interpret the world by affecting societal views and choices. For example, some people choose their marriage partners based on cultural background. Some cultures suggest that individuals should only marry a person with the same cultural background. One author, Gary Soto, in his article, “Like Mexicans”, reminisced about how his family members encouraged him to marry a Mexican and as he grew up he searched for the perfect Mexican girl. Despite this, he ended up marrying a Japanese woman and after having conversations with his mother, he still found himself questioning whether he made the right choice (Soto 225).…

Lake, the narrator, is explaining that the school doesn’t understand how his son learns, and that his son learns in different ways than the…

People place judgment on one another every day based on differences. Sometimes it is done subconsciously; sometimes it is done on purpose. In the book The House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, two different cultures were represented; Kathy represented the culture of the western civilization, whereas Behrani represented the culture of Persians. People judge one another based on unimportant things, and get judged based on those same things as well. Two cultures were used to amplify how different their cultures were from one another. Throughout the book cultures vocalized what they did not like about the other cultures by placing judgment on people based on ethnicity, appearance, and status; despite how different the cultures were, they had something in common, negative judgment. In a world where there is so much diversity, the only way for all cultures to get along is to place judgments aside and accept the differences.…

Beliefs that have the tendency to change even in a short period because every person has a unique cognitive aspect in viewing things. We are the one who make a decision, which things the things and we going to believe are not going to believe. Others may influence our ability to think but in the end, we are still the one, which will segregate things that we are going to believe.…
