Creative Laziness
Creative Laziness Laziness is a state of mind. A person is said to be in a lazy state of mind with respect to a task when he is not properly motivated to do the task. Lack of motivation to do a task can spring up from many causes such as physical lethargy, lack of reinforcement in the form of rewards, failure to value the reward intended for the task appropriately, preoccupation of mind with some other things which is important to the person concerned, lack of interest in executing the task, all can be regarded as the cause of laziness. Laziness is always a looked down upon quality. A lazy mind is a work shop of devil. But who knows a lazy mind is a creative mind too. You know, the intellectual act of creativity needs a certain degree of laziness. Only a person who does not care for a disciplined life at least for one day in a week can be creative. Being free from daily structure of disciplined life give our brain enough space to breath. It comes out of the box of daily predictable routines and such a mental set up is the prime requirement for creativity. You might have heard about some painters, poets and writers indulging in intoxicants like liquor, tea, coffee etc just before they enter into their creative phase. They depend upon these things to release their consciousness from their otherwise uncreative imaginations. For initiation of creativity an easy, flexible, somewhat lazy mind is the basic requirement. Today’s class room activities do not ensure an atmosphere for students to be free and expressive of their own ideas. They are like tightly disciplined information imparting coaching centers that exhorts the student for nothing but to score grades in the examinations. Sometimes we can see that lazy minds are more creative than brilliant minds. These lazy minded pupils, their cause of laziness apart, get little opportunity to prove their presence in the group. Thus, year

On the other hand, bad-organised people who haven’t any motivation may use this approach for doing nothing. For example, when I had a big task of homework I decided to do it at a library because when I had begun to do it in my hostel I found out that I was sleeping, eating and surfing on the Internet a lot. That’s why I understand now that if I want a good result I should work in less convenient condition than I have at…

Moreover, that some people have cognitive disinhibition made it clear to why people come up with (some might view as) bizarre ideas though creative due to them having unlimited set of ideas coming to their conscious awareness, which as Carson mentions, is hard to ignore. This information, I have found extremely interesting. Likewise, it has answered the questions of many. I do agree that in today’s world, creativity is highly encouraged and needed because it will help improve a country’s economical and technological status especially in business companies e.g. Coca Cola. Creativity associated with intelligence is utilized in the industrial and research and development of…

Recently, Daniel Joseph tweeted “ Perhaps the greatest thief of time, and life, is procrastination”, this shows just what can happen if we allow laziness to dictate how we procrastinate. We need to figure out how to utilize the adrenaline we get from putting something off until the last hour, that rush when you wake up the morning it's due and have no other option than to succeed. Some might see that it’s ironic that the best way to brainstorm is to not take action at all, but think of it this way. Why force meaningless words on a blank piece of paper when you can wait for inspiration to come that will spur powerful sentences that convey what you truly wanted to express? Artists don't sit in front of a blank canvas until an idea manifests itself into a painting, they allow the idea to come natural, and in order to master the art of procrastination this part is essential. It boils down to being able to use your weakness to your greatest advantage, and I know just as well as anyone that this approach has its pros and cons. Putting things off simply just is relaxing the brain, and when you allow for your brain to relax when it isn't, it puts you in a…

It is one of the most underrated troubles. For it causes many issues in the world, though the blame always seems to fall upon some other reason of cause. Laziness causes people to not want to fulfill their wildest dreams to refusing to do necessary duties. On the island of the lotus eaters, Odysseus faces laziness at its most extreme. The lotus flowers cause people to magically lose their longing for home. Sailors don’t have much control over their laziness, for it was forced upon them by way of magic lotus flowers from the natives. My troubles with laziness come from giving up because something is “too hard”, when really I just am being lazy. It causes me to not work as hard as I should to achieve my goal of having a happy and healthy lifestyle. Laziness in Odysseus’ story and mine are similar because we both lose the lust for our goal. Luckily we can both overcome laziness with hard work and determination, even if Pandora releases it from the box…

Creativity is a talent and a gift we are born with in the absence of severe cognitive deficits. I believe that there are two fundamental ways of expressing creativity: One is the actual use of imagination, inventing, experimenting with ideas born out of imagination, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes; learning from mistakes and having fun. The other way is to create an environment in which others can freely express their creative energies and I in turn, learn from their experiences.…

Berkman, a Psychologist wrote about various problems we procrastinate. One that caught my attention was that it’s a choice whether to complete an assignment, do something fun or simply nothing. He quotes “When the value of something else outweighs the value of working now.” More clearly students don’t see the value of their homework any better than going out to a party and having fun so they leave homework undone and so something more pleasurable.…

It is believed that if someone works as hard as possible, it will prove the “worthiness” of a person. This mindset was formed by a group of English Protestants called the Puritans in the 16th and 17th centuries. They found out that the necessity for hard work is needed for success. On the other hand, people who are lazy will never succeed, as there are no shortcuts to success in life. I used to be stuck in this “laziness” mindset, and I know it is hard to…

America is essentially the laziest country in the world. This elucidates why there’re so many lazy people in it, like myself. However, being lazy does not necessarily mean America is a bad country; laziness makes America the unique and beautiful country we know and love. Being lazy can be awful or great, but when I describe how excited I am to go on vacation, it’s a huge deal. I’m never more anxious than the morning I wake up to go on vacation once a year. Consequently, I am usually at my worst when my family and I leave for vacation. Although I only spend a week at this place, it’s potentially the best week that I spend each and every year.…

Others do it because they just honestly hate doing their work. Im also a victim of that as well. What is the actual definition of procrastination? The answer is, procrastination is the act of postponing or putting off until a later date. Dr. Perry himself was a self hating procrastinator until finally it occurred to Perry that he wasn’t exactly entirely that lazy. When Mr. Perry wasn’t grading his papers, he wasn’t sitting down, sometimes he would sharpen his pencils, or he would play games with the other kids there. So, one time in your life you probably will procrastinate, and you wouldn’t know…

As the writers said “Find the way to ‘get motivated’” (Moore, Baker, Packer,39). I think writers means that you should inspired yourself and find some reasons for yourself to do your work. In my perspective, we can tell ourselves some benefit if I can have done this work. For example, in my college life we also have lots of homework need to do, but most of time I do my homework before due time only few hours. Therefore, sometimes I cannot do my homework. If I can inspire myself do homework few days before due day, which I think I can get good job. Just like writers said when you feel you are procrastination, think about the benefit if you can finish work. You can get some motivation to do it.…
