Self-improvement books have truly reshaped the way people define success. They helped to provide clearer perspective of what success entails and how they can be achieved. Some people work very hard to prove themselves of their value. Others may agree that success is an achievement of personal goals. However, success is really a result of the ability to work hard and the setting of goals.

It is believed that if someone works as hard as possible, it will prove the “worthiness” of a person. This mindset was formed by a group of English Protestants called the Puritans in the 16th and 17th centuries. They found out that the necessity for hard work is needed for success. On the other hand, people who are lazy will never succeed, as there are no shortcuts to success in life. I used to be stuck in this “laziness” mindset, and I know it is hard to

Goals tell you where you are going and how you are going to get there. Ideally, goals have to be realistic, measurable and within a person’s skills and abilities. For example, if a Person A wants to lose twenty kilograms in one month of exercising as compared to Person B in five months of exercising, the outcome of losing weight will be much more successful if Person B managed to lose at least four kilograms in the first month as compared to Person A which sets an unrealistic goal of losing at least ten kilograms within the first two weeks. There are several steps to achieving a goal. You can actually simplify the process of goal setting. Firstly, is to discover exactly what your goal is and also think about what the desired result is. Then you have to work towards it passionately and visualize yourself achieving the goal. Also, one needs to create a master plan for the path that is needed to follow to accomplish the goal as well as reviewing the overall progress regularly is also important.     To use goal setting a clear realistic goal needs to be set. "SMART" goals are the way to having great goals. S stands for specific as in the goal is detailed and will help you reach something you want to happen. M stands for measurable and A stands for achievable which means the goal is realistic and can be reached within time set to reach it.
