Like country music and great food on a nice Summer's day? The Brickyard Restaurant and Ale House has the event for you. On June 25th, they will host a “Country Western Summer Kickoff Party.” The event will begin around 1 p.m. The entire event is sponsored by the Lancaster Brewing Company.

“This is the first year we are doing this event, in the past we have always done a Luau to kick off the beginning of summer, but this year we decided to switch things up a bit.” Manager Tom Ecker states. “The one thing we realized is everyone has a little country in them and its one thing we've never done.”

It will cost $25 for a team of two. 100 percent of the proceeds will go the “Helping Hands from Hudson” an organization that raises funds for children battling cancer in our area. It was started in memory of Hudson Rinker, a child who lost his battle with the disease back in February 2009. Teams must per-register either by calling or stopping in.

A hayride will transport patrons to and from Homemade Days. That event is also planned for the same day. “Homemade days just happened.” Ecker states. “We were looking at two dates for this event, June 18th or the 25th. We thought hay rides in downtown would be a fun idea. and it just so happened that Homemade days were going on at the same time. After talking with Justin Simpson from the City Recreation Dept. he agreed tying the two events together made a lot of sense.

So if you like country music, good food, or are ready to kickoff Summer, come to The Brickyard Restaurant and Ale House for their “Country Western Summer Kickoff Party” on June 25th. However acknowledging the true coming of age is when Wilgus opens a beer and hangs out of the window and starts firing at the signs himself. “Wilgus had blown one whole corner off with his first shot. We will believe this will meet the objectives listed below because we will be doing something unique that will draw attention to the UCD Club Hockey team while also providing back to the community. The proposed event, theoretically titled 'Puck-A-Thon: 24 Hours of UC Denver Hockey' will take place at a local hockey rink. The team will play a single game of hockey of 24 hours. Players will be allowed to take shifts to avoid extreme exhaustion, but there will always be at least 4 members of the team on the ice at a time. We will have smaller events on the UCD campus leading up to this where friends, family, students, faculty, and fans can sponsor a player for 'Puck-A-Thon.' The UCD Hockey Team will keep half of the money collected, while the other half will be donated to an undetermined charity. We also will invite others who want to participate in 'Puck-A-Thon' to join in the game. To play, a donation will be mandatory with a minimum fee attached. Players are encouraged to bring their own equipment, however some equipment will be available on a first come, first serve basis. We are attempting to also obtain sponsorship of the event from local businesses. The businesses will be able to put up their advertising during our events, in exchange for donated prizes that we will be able to give away to those who sponsor the players. Categories will be set up where players will win awards…

While the campground was almost totally primitive, the magnificent beauty of the snow capped mountains even in the summertime more than made up for the not so up-scaled campgrounds. The hiking trails and running rivers were equally represented, but were not to be topped by the abundance of wild life so well represented in this wilderness area. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a moose with an 8-10 point rack standing close to the shores of a crystal clear lake with the shadows of the snow capped mountains casting a double panorama with the reflections on the mirror image provided by the crystal clear lake. There were also such amenities as trout fishing in the fast moving streams a stone’s through from the campground and rental horses where one can ride the horse freely over the range with the only restriction of having the horses back at the stables at a certain time. Both Michael and Stephanie became fairly good horseback riders during our camping trips to…
