Some say the war of Indians did not end until after a 71 day standoff February 28th, 1973 at Wounded Knee against Indians and the American government in a protest. The Indians were fighting for their treaty rights (Wounded Knee the Longest War). The Indians wanted the world to see what it was like to be them, to live in poverty and feel racism as well as being powerless against the government. The elder women were just as involved in the standoff as men. We, the delegates of Virginia believe and agree that the number of members of Congress should be proportional to population. We believe this because it is most beneficial for the population to be proportional because a huge state like Virginia should not have the same number of representatives of congress as a smaller state like Delaware or Georgia. The reason why we have such a large population is because we have such a large slave population. Isolation, meaning a state of separation, is often misperceived by many as people frequently believe that isolation is always a negative state of being; that isolation due to emotions is non-realistic, and that isolation is always involuntary. These myths are commonly accepted; however, the novel Crow Lake takes a different stand from these myths. Mary Lawson, author of the novel, demonstrated isolations in many of its forms through the protagonist, Kate, and a small, desolated rural community that represented the primary setting of the novel, Crow Lake. Rock Point camp is a beautiful place. A white shelled yellow sandy beach, taking up most of the camp. This beach has sparkling dark blue water, swaying back and forth with force carrying dark green soft seaweed with it. There is a fossil area on the corner of the beach, and massive flat rocks with animals engraved into its grayness, you will see scaly orange fish with only sockets and no eyes laying on these rocks with fly’s hovering over them in circles, as if they are guarding the dead corpses of the fish. Once you get off the beach you will see a large green forest filled with muddy trails going in many directions.
