Comparison Of Dr. Jay Wile And Robert Martin
“The origin of the universe, the Earth and man is a topic that is still debated today, over a hundred years after Darwin published his work, On The Origin of Species, in which he presented his theory of evolution.” (Trudeau, 1). This is seen in many scientific debates that have taken place. One instance where a debate relating to this topic occurred was between Dr. Jay Wile and Dr. Robert Martin. They were on opposing sides; Dr. Wile was the creationist whereas Dr. Martin was the evolutionist. Dr. Jay Wile and Dr. Robert Martin each stated their views boldly and respectfully throughout the debate.

Dr. Jay Wile was at the standing point of a creationist view. Creationists are people who “believe the basics of a Christian worldview: the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and the Genesis account is a literal description of God’s Creation of all things (Bob Jones, 173).” One …show more content…
Robert Martin was on the side of evolution, which is related to a secular worldview. The secular worldview is one that “must be free from religious influence (Bob Jones, 172).” The evolutionists believe in the theory of evolution, which is a composition of theories involving the philosophy of evolution, the theory of cosmological beginnings, and the theory of biological evolution. One example he used to support his argument was that birds came from feathered dinosaurs. He claimed that some fossils provide evidence to support the idea that there were once feathered dinosaurs. Then, he tried convincing us that toothy birds came from this, which eventually morphed into the average birds you see today. Another example he used to back up evolution is the identicalness of humans and apes. He stated that ninety-nine percent of DNA of humans is shared with chimpanzees. He also made the statement that there was a gradual transformation overtime that caused humans to originate from chimpanzees or other types of apes.
