Young Earth Creation Paper
Christian Ethics Creation Paper – Young Earth Creationism: Does it Truly Matter?

For generations, conflict between atheistic and Christian beliefs has not ceased to persist. The idea of a six-day creation, A.K.A. Young Earth Creationism, is a popular dispute amongst the two worldviews; due to scientific theory of being dependent on the suggestion that the world was formed over a duration of millions of years. Many people, Christian and non-Christian, insist that the concept of Young Earth Creationism is based off of an incorrect interpretation of scripture, or simply is not true. Despite whether or not the idea of a six-day creation is a reality, this must also be considered; does it truly matter? Belief in Young Earth Creationism is essential

However, MacArthur points out an obvious flaw with this mindset, quoting,
“If you reject the creation account in Genesis, you have no basis for believing the Bible at all. If you doubt or explain away the Bible’s account of the six days of creation, where do you put the reigns on your skepticism?” (MacArthur, 2001.)

Thus, a problem arises if we first allow arguments saying the world is old and then try to make the Word of God fit. Each of us must choose which we will vest with ultimate authority: God’s Word or incomplete human knowledge. Many will argue that science and religion are different realms that do not relate to each other. But this way of dividing or compartmentalizing truth contradicts Scripture. There is one God who created all of reality, and His Word is equally authoritative in all that it reveals to us. If we treat evolutionary ideas as authoritative about the history of the world, this leads us to a distorted view of truth and a distorted view of God’s Word.” (Spencer, 2009) In Deuteronomy 29:29, Moses tells us that God has revealed things to us through His Scriptures, that we may live how God wants us to. It is only logical to believe that God would not make the Bible a hard-to-solve puzzle, in which He speaks to His people in riddles. Dick Fysher, a scholar whom has received a master’s degree in theology and a Bachelor Degree of Science, goes even as far as to

The biblical worldview says, on the other hand, that God created the world (Gen. 1.1, English Standard Version). Unlike the secular humanistic worldview’s belief that the earth was created randomly, a biblical worldview says that the earth was created by intelligent design. The biblical worldview also says that God created the world in seven days. This is in stark contrast to the secular humanist’s view that the earth as we know it was formed over millions of years.…
