It has more than 1 million supporters and is one of the most effective animal welfare organizations in the world. They provide animal hospitals and adoption centers. They also help investigate and make arrests for crimes against animals.

When shelters become overcrowded these volunteers try and rescue as many as possible. These foster parents take in frightened, sick animals that would have been put to sleep offering them more time to heal before adoption. It can become difficult being a foster parent because you get attached and heartbreaking especially if a sick animal doesn’t survive.
