Chris Mccandless: A True Hero
Chris McCandless, He is a hero for me. I look up to him because feel like we both have a lot in common. Chris McCandless said, “If you want something in life, reach out and grab it.” He wanted to live his life in a different manner. Chris was brave for not turning his back on what he believed in. He looks selfish from someone else's point of view. Sometimes it’s better to make a selfish act for your own happiness, isn’t it? What I have learned from his fantastic experience is that everyone should take chances, even if it seems reckless or stupid.

I am sure a lot of people would disagree on his way of thinking or his actions. I believe they disagree with him because they do not understand him. One big part of why McCandless picked that way of living was because he had so much pain in his heart. He understood that pain was coming from living in a lie. He was lying about being his true self to everyone around him. That made him unhappy so he decided to give up everything including the money and rich lifestyle.

McCandless didn’t want that life. He wanted more. He didn’t want to be living like society wanted him to. He hated being someone that he wasn’t. He accepted that he would never be the person society expected him to be so decided to travel and see the world’s beauty. In his journey, he learned many things and met people that he would have never met if he was living a normal life.

I believe that Chris McCandless is brave and courageous. He chose to take a risk and said “I don’t want to live this boring life. I don’t care what people say or think.” In the end if he would have listened to everyone and tried to satisfy them, they would never be happy. He lived life the way he wanted to live it. He found his own happiness by travelling and doing something

I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person and he was seeking happiness for himself in the wild. There are many things that show that he wasn’t crazy, like getting along with people, having some knowledge of living in the wild, and he was very bright and made some good decisions. However, he did seem somewhat incompetent.…

It is said that Chris McCandless was a bright and ignorant person according to Cellarmans argument and maybe others point of views. In my perspective I agree but disagree as well although I agree with the argument that was said by Callarmans. As I state a quote that was said by Shaun Callarman “ had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness”. As it says “Romantic silliness” he was meaning that he wanted to die in a poetic but as well as a beautiful surrounding of love and happiness. Also many people argued that McCandless was suffering from a mental illness probably like depression, however, there has been no evidence given that Chris was actually suffering from this. A third thing is that there is no doubt that Chris McCandless did not have a bound with his parents, he did not spend a lot of time with them, but have people considered the fact that Chris did not want to become like his parents, the type that have to work all the time and the type that do not have time to do anything else but…

I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his romantic silliness. He made a lot of mistakes based on arrogance. I dont admire him at all for his courage nor his noble ideas. Really, I think he was just plain crazy. Shaun Callarman Explain Callarmans argument and discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with his analysis. 4. Similar to other characteristics, greatness is not something easily defined or subjectively interpreted. As Transcendentalism was a style of belief revolving around nature and independence, Transcendentalist author Ralph Waldo Emerson documented a standard for greatness in his essay, “Self- Reliance”. According to Emerson, it is easy to assimilate and conform when surrounded by societal interferences, and it is easy to be independent when alone. The challenge, that shows true greatness, is being able to stay genuine and truthful to one’s self even with social hindrance. By these standards, Chris McCandless, the controversial main character of Into the Wild, is “great”. At first glance, McCandless appears to be a young man with his head stuck…

In Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless is a fool because he spent all his time trying to figure out who he was, but was too naive to see that it was right in front of him. Chris McCandless goal was to go to Alaska and didn’t realize that he was becoming a fool because he was to focused on his goal and not what was in front of him. Along the way, the people that he met showed him what he truly was. When McCandless finally realized what he was looking for, it was too late.
