Childhood Memories

Childhood memories are special for everyone. I have many happy memories of my childhood and I enjoy looking back on the good times. I was born in Manhattan, N.Y and raised in Charleston, S.C. I was an only child so I spent a lot of time with my parents. My parents were both full time workers but they always made sure I was in activities and in exciting adventures. Of all the memories, there are three unforgettable events that took place in my childhood. I had the pleasure of horseback riding, summer vacations and high school graduation. All of these events brought me joy and happiness.

Ever since I was a little girl I would tell my parents that I wanted to ride a horse. Growing up in the country, there were many horseback ranches around. When I turned ten my parents granted me my wish, horseback riding. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the night before or eat in the morning. Once we arrived I was greeted by the instructor and this beautiful white horse named Santana. Being next to a tall horse made me a little afraid to ride it. My mom encouraged me to try petting the horse to get comfortable. Riding the trail was the most exciting part of the whole experience because it taught me how to trot, gallop and control the horse. I felt like I was on top of the world. My mom and I took so many pictures. My parents made my tenth birthday so special.

Summer vacations were something every child looks forward to. I enjoyed summer vacations because I was able see my grandparents in New York. My grandparents owned a motor home and they would pick me up from South Carolina and travel to New York. They would always spoil me because I was their only grandchild. I looked forward to staying up late, eating everything and working hard at begging for ice cream. My grandmother enrolled me into a church day camp. They took us to museums, pools and theme parks. I enjoyed going to the wax museum the most because it felt like my favorite stars were so close to me. They were so life like and I took a picture with my favorite wax model, Lucille Ball. During my summer vacation I also went to work with my grandfather. He owns a plumbing business, which is doing very well. He would teach me the names of different tools. He always made me laugh and I learned so many fun things while working with him. Spending time with my grandparents meant so much to me. I enjoyed every summer I had with them. Graduating is such an accomplishment on so many levels. Graduating from high school was something that I thought would never happen. I attended a technology school and my major was early childhood. One of my graduation presents was a limo ride to graduation. I had never driven in a limo before and I was so excited. I was calling some of my friends from the limo. When it was time for my name to be called I had so many butterflies in my stomach. When I received my diploma I was so overwhelmed I started crying. My friends and family was cheering for me so loudly. After graduation my parents organized a surprise party for me. I was so shocked because it is very hard to surprise me. There was good barbeque and music. I received lots of congrats and money Graduation was such a monumental day for me and best of all I shared it with my family and friends. My childhood memories have molded me into the person I am today. Horseback riding has taught me to try new things and to not be fearful. My summer vacations has allowed me to be outgoing and to enjoy traveling. Graduating showed me that I can move on to higher education and also achieve my goals. Childhood memories are something that should be remembered and cherished for a lifetime. Memories are so precious and pure. My childhood memories will live with me forever and I hope to pass them on to my children in the future.

I didn’t really do much over the summer. We went to Indiana beach, and I am not too fond of roller coasters, or any ride for that matter, except for at water parks. Last year in 7th grade we went to Washington D.C and saw the washington monument, lincoln memorial, we went inside the Capitol building, The Changing of the Guard at Arlington cemetery, saw The White House. That didn’t really interest me, I don’t even have any souvenirs! Even earlier in the year, we went to Buffalo, New York. We saw a football game (the team we were rooting for lost,(TO THE JETS!) and we got to see Niagara Falls.…

Childhood memories are the best kind of memories, but some stand out more than others. My favorite childhood memory is filming my commerical with my soccer team at age six. One of the family members of one of my teammates worked for Fox Two News and filmed us doing a “Fox Two in My Neighborhood” commercial. Beforehand, the crew had given us a script with our lines so we had a plan of what each of us would say. When the crew arrived, we set up the field started filming. My part was at the very beginning, and I said, “We’re the Smithton Ladybugs!” People that ran the crew tried several girls for my part, but they just kept coming back to me. We ran through the whole commerical, then my dad took me home. I still vividly remember the reports and…

I can still remember the times when I was just a young boy. I grew up in the rural part of town on our family's ranch. Most knew where my family resided, as we set up our establishment and named it the Double G Ranch. Amongst my family, included a vast variety of animals. We had everything from racing horses to bulls and even a mean rooster that startled everyone on the farm except for my mother. Friends and close relatives would often visit to participate in trail rides, social gatherings, and other outdoor activities. My family's ranch became not only everyone else around us the favorite place to hang out, but also a place where I created memories. I can honestly say that my childhood consisted of numerous adventures that fulfilled my enjoyment.…

We drove down in separate cars from Kentucky enduring about thirteen long hours of “fun” with my immediate family. We finally arrive in animal kingdom where we are staying in one of the Disney hotels. We get to our room and get settled in when I look out on the balcony and see giraffes, and antelopes, and peacocks walking around in my back yard. It was one of my favorite parts of this trip. We then go out to wait for the bus to take us to our first kingdom, epcot. I remember immediately being here as a child and know exactly what I want to go and do and see. Now being seventeen, I take one of my cousins and we go off on our own to see what we want to experience. We go to the science museum and learn about space and evolution which has through my high school years been very beneficial to me. Having fun and learning at the same time was great. I spend the entire next day going around to all the rides and enjoying them at least two times each. I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having. After that I went to the stores and got all the things I wanted to take back home to remember this trip…

The most rewarding experience I’ve had this summer would definitely be my vacation to Florida. For the first 2 days I got to spend time with my family, and my cousin Lauren, at St. Pete’s Beach. The ocean water was so warm and it felt amazing. We left St. Pete’s Beach with smiles on our faces bc we would soon be in Orlando, fl. Everyone in my family was excited to be on our way to Walt Disney World, where we would arrive the next day. The first day we were there we went to Magic kingdom, where Cinderella’s castle was, and we met 2 princesses there. In epcot we got to meet Mickey, Minnie, and Goofey. Haley’s face lit up when she saw mickey and Minnie. In epcot there was a ride called test track. We all got to design our own cars. My sister Chloe’s…

    Childhood Innocence

I have checked all over the internet for a direct definition of childhood innocence, however even the Merriam-Webster dictionary does not have a definition of childhood innocence. I guess you could look up the two words separately and link the definition together. Childhood is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as “the state or period of being a child”. Innocence is defined as “the state of being not guilty of a crime or other wrong act”. So childhood innocence could mean the state of being a child without being guilty of a crime or wrong act. When thinking of and defining childhood innocence, one may believe it’s a state of being carefree, pure of heart, and most importantly its very fragile. Childhood innocence is inspirational and should be protected from evils that surround it because it easily taken away.…

Around the age of five, my Papa began dating a woman with a farm. It was her passion for horses and riding that enabled her to sign me up for lessons. My father likes to tell the story as follows: “One day I was at work and I received a message that told me to show up at this address when I got out of work. So I pull up to this address and there is my daughter on a horse!” I remember I was nervous, but as soon as I mounted the palomino pony named Sunny, that went away. There is still a picture of me posing on top of him sporting a purple Bratz bike helmet. It was apparent I had found my passion, something that would forever affect me. Moreover, it was with Sunny that I learned to walk, trot, and developed to love horses more than anything before.…

Memories are a funny thing. They are the mental and emotional ties that we have to the past. Without photographs or videos, memories are all we have to recall significant moments throughout our lives. Whether it is a momentous life achievement, or a simple snap shot of being happy or sad, memories live within our psyche. They are not tangible objects; they are not even exact or clear. They are fuzzy scenes in our minds that we hold on to because they evoke certain emotions or signify some kind of importance. Or maybe you have some memories stowed away and the reason has yet to be revealed. The most interesting and complex element to memories is that they are easily interfered with. While time and age are the most obvious…
