Checkpoint Computer Comparison
CheckPoint: Computer Comparison

When I compare my computer system to a state-of-the-art computer system I find that there are several similarities and differences. Both computers have the same make up, although the state of the art system offers more storage and memory capabilities. Cost is also a big difference as state of the art computer systems are much more expensive due to what they can offer. Along with the technology that comes along with a state of the art system, is an ever changing industry. Trying to stay on top could result in loss of pertinent data and a financial burden. I purchased my desktop less than a year ago and it has offered me everything that I needed for school and personal use.

An author wouldn’t need much of power and storage. A decent surface tablet computer or basic laptop would be fine for their needs. A SSD would be perfect for faster documents to load when getting that spurt to jot down what is in their head before they lose it. And a surface tablet would execute their means of travel and give them the ability to really write anywhere they please. As well a nice decent sized laptop, but I believe the surface tablet would be much more variable.…

The Desktop I had built needed to do everything I needed for school, handle some large programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and also be able to network with my family’s existing system, for the purpose of printer and file sharing. I spoke to a technician, and we came up with a system that fit my budget as well as needs. My Desktop consists of a basic black tower, Gigabyte S-series motherboard, which supports Intel Multi-Core Processors. The processor is an Intel Duo Core E700 2.53GHz. The system has 2.00 GB of random access memory (RAM), and a 500GB hard drive. The system has been extremely reliable and more than met the needs. However, two] months ago it contracted a virus that essentially crashed my entire operating system. Thankfully I had enough time to run to Target and purchase an external hard drive to enable me to transfer my files from the computer just…

Throughout the years prices of computers have dropped and the memory in the computers has gotten substantially higher. Moore’s Law tells us that the number of processors doubles every two years. Well this is causing technology or computers in this case to basically double as well. In 1957 a 0.00098 KB RAM cost $392. This is unbelievable to me considering today my phone has two-billion times the RAM. In 1955 the amount of ROM on an IBM hard-drive was 12 MB and cost a whopping $74800 or the price of a decent house today. This price was at $6233 per MB. In today’s world we forget sometimes that there were even computers with MB hard drives.…

There are several ways in which to organize a counseling center for victims of domestic abuse. Organization by departmentalization is a model in which the agency is broken into subgroups or departments according to process, market, program, or client and consumer needs. The most effective organization by departmentalization would be to break up the departments according to program. Victims of domestic abuse may need different programs in order to get their lives back on track. Some may be in need of counseling while others need help finding a new place to live or need help with job placement. The downside to organizing a counseling center, by program is that the counseling center may offer only a handful of services and would need to refer clients to outside organizations. If the agency did offer other programs, the victim may feel that they are overwhelmed with their options and may go back to their previous situation.…

With all the companies that were listed, it is easy to see how competition has helped tremendously in keeping prices down. The first computer I bought cost me $2500. It was a Pionex, 512 mb of RAM, Pentium processor, 120GB Hard Drive and a 15inch monitor than could be used for a boat anchor. The computer I have now cost me 1/3 the price. It has an Intel Core I5 processor, 1TB hard Drive, 6 GB of RAM, DVD RW drive, and a 24 inch monitor that weighs about 5 pounds. Now that we have seen that computers are made bigger, better, and cheaper, let’s discuss how they have changed the way some companies do business.…

For this assignment I chose two of the most popular weekly news programs. The first was “Meet the Press” from my local NBC affiliate out of Chicago on March 2nd Sunday morning. It was hosted by Chuck Todd and aired at 10am. The second was from my local Fox channel also based in Chicago and was “Fox News Sunday”. It was hosted by Chris Wallace and aired at 9am on March 2nd Sunday morning. I chose these two shows due to the fact they aired at approximately the same time, on the same day, and therefore were in direct competition. Additionally Fox news is generally regarded to be a conservative based network, while NBC and their affiliates are generally considered to be influenced by liberal ideas.…
