Scenario 1:
The level of prevention Tertiary prevention. I feel this way because you cannot prevent what has already happened you just have to rehabilitate this person. And hope they learn to not deal with the abuse the lady used the panic which prevented the man from hurting the lady and he went to jail. I would have done things A little differently I would have told her that she needs to stand up to him and I would be there when she did. Because she has low self esteem I would put her in a program that helps her to gain confidence about herself. I do think they did a good job by calling the police because he needs to know he can’t

I think that Sam should have stopped the man and talked to him, sometimes that’s all it takes to change a bad situation and prevent future violence. Sam also should have notified not only his boss but also the finance director and supervisor and let them know what he witnessed. Mediation could have helped the situation and changed the outcome drastically. I think that company policies should include but not be limited to notify immediately the supervisors of distraught parties. The company may also invest in a company counselor or mediator who is trained in crisis prevention and can help disgruntled employees. Employee’s my find that having someone to talk to is of great benefit to them and will result in happier employees.…

I would tell the members of the Senate that mental health is just as important as physical health. Health professionals say that there is a solid link between the mental health and physical health. The health and illnesses are not just related to biological issues, but is a combination of biological issues, social conditions, and behavioral factors. If we want our society to deal with all of the health issues that they may face, we need to bring a health care policy that takes into consideration of all these things.…

This would allow her to avoid being incarcerated as this is likely to put her in a downward spiral within the justice system because of her vulnerabilities. The importance of getting the appropriate resources and support to help Kimmie deal with the trauma she has witnessed and experienced is critical in deterring her from reoffending, as she has never had the opportunity to heal. Entering an institutional facility would expose Kimmie to the trauma of experiencing further abuse and elude her from dealing with her untreated emotional pain (Simkins & Katz, 2002). An appropriate case plan to implement for Kimmie would begin through a Judge that was court-ordered because of her most recent Aggravated Assault convictions. Kimmie would be ordered to have a professionally completed assessment on her psychological and mental health through a medical personnel. Not only would this assessment help the Criminal Justice system with understanding why Kimmie is continuing her aggressive behaviours but also gives her evidence so that her family can begin understanding and supporting her instead of suppressing and marginalizing her. Although data is limited, there is a reality of the Criminal Justice System criminalizing abused girls without there being appropriate mediations and interventions to understand why these violent behaviours have occurred (Simkins & Katz, 2002). The Criminal Justice System tends to focus on young girls’ aggressive and violent behaviours as just a crime rather than focusing on the possible trauma that these young girls have experienced. The trauma experienced by these young girls often have a very strong connection to the crimes they are being convicted of (Simkins & Katz, 2002). The psychological and mental health assessment Kimmie will undergo will allow the professionals involved to address her risk factors more appropriately…

The video I watched on Laci Green’s youtube channel was ‘She asked for it.” I learned that the things people consider you are “asking for it” are actually rights all humans are entitled too. I also learned that crimes happen when perpetrators violate someone. There are also many problems wrong with victim blaming. One of the main ones I took away from the video is that victim blaming actually causes more crimes. Also victim blaming makes it very hard for justice to be served after something has happened. All of this is important because this type of stuff happens all over the world and there are many people who are uneducated on this topic. There are many resources I would use but if something like this were to happen in my life, I would first…

It bothered me that he was not at least kept in custody for the night and go from there. No matter how close of a family member he is to me, I feel very conflicted that he was released without any conditions and that he it was fine for him to be back in the house the next morning. To be completely honest, I don't think I would have had the courage to call the police after the assault. I could only sit there in shock crying and feeling afraid. I think that if it wasn't somebody who witnessed what happened and helped inform the police, my life of how I was hurt by my brother would have been back to where it has been in the past, hidden. As a victim, I know that it would take me a a lot of courage to stand up against my offender, but I am vulnerable and I really need you and your colleagues help so that justice can be served and that I can finally have the ability to face my biggest fear. A crime has occurred, and the offender has to face justice. Unfortunately, out of all people, I am his sister and the victim at the same time. I strongly believe this to be the best resolution and we can both move on after this event. As a police officer, this duty is entrusted to you by society and I trust I trust…

I believe it’s as wrong to not report a sexual assault just as much as its wrong to sexually assault someone, because not reporting it makes the perpetrators fearless of repeating their actions. Therefore, when you do not report the assault you are allowing it to happen to someone else in the future. Nevertheless, the victim is blamed for the rape or sexual assault sometimes, such as stated in the article; Justice Robin Camp once questioned a complainant in a 2014 case, “why she didn’t keep her legs closed.” We have judges who make such statements as if it is the victims fault for getting raped or sexually assaulted. I feel that the 17 women who did not file a complaint against Ghomeshi for his actions, are the type of people who cause these things to happen even more in our society because they do not take action immediately, so the police don’t know and can’t take action against people like Ghomeshi. Kathryn Borel dropped her charges against Ghomeshi for an apology. I believe that was a wrong action to take because it sets a bad example for all the other victims and woman in society. The article also briefly talks about Mustafa Ururyar’s case, where he was sentenced to jail for 18 months but got bail for appeal. The court allowing suspects bail for appeal on such serious issues does not help in reducing these type of crimes, consequently it makes other sexual assaulters not fear the law. In addition, the ending of the article is very important in my opinion, because it argues that no matter what situation the victim is in, it is not their fault they get raped or assaulted, because they never asked for…

First off, I understand that this is a hypothetical situation but there are real women out there who have or are struggling from these type of situations. Next, I believe that Michelle should have the right to reasonable protection and safety for her and her child. However, I am aware that this right is mainly for victims that are going to trail for their own abusive situations. But why not include women and child who just ran away from an abusive home. They need a place to be safe and not feel like their significant other is going to find them and punish them more for running away. Also, Michelle should have the right to compensation. She just left everything behind in order to get to a harmless place so why should she have to be punished…

I agree with the standpoint of leaving the victim with the decision to press charges. If some couples want to work out their issue in the comfort of their home they should have that right and not fear legal interference. With that said I believe there should be assistance for couples trying to work past their troubles. A mandatory series of therapy sessions sounds better than a prosecution, which forces the victim to relive a nightmare experience. I believe in assistance not interference. I believe some things are often repairable and second chances are part of life. Interference sounds like a reasonable option for habitual offenders.…

However, I was a bit disappointed that my mother did not call the police to report the assaulter because every victim deserves justice. I admit, I was also glad that he was beaten up , but violence will only make things worse. My mom did reveal that he did apologize to her few months later. Furthermore, I agree with my mother about bringing family and friends with you wherever you go. However, if a person were to go somewhere alone, he or she should always let someone know where he or she is going. In addition, not only women should protect themselves, but men as well because men can be sexually assaulted or raped as well. Lastly, my mother never ever wants me to handle the situation like she did without calling law enforcement and she advices me to never be afraid to tell her if someone sexually assaulted me. Luckily, I have learned self-defense and bring my cell phone and pepper spray in case of sexual assault or rape. Overall, the interview was informative for me to know that anything can happen and it is important to prepare for dangerous…

I go in the residence and check on the victim Ima Victim. Ima is a 38 year old Caucasian woman whom is a professor at Baker College. I relay to dispatch that she is alright however she is distraught. My backup arrives and we canvas the area in the direction the assailant went. When we turn up nothing we call for the K-9 unit, Night vision and we secure the scene so no evidence gets tampered with. When our help arrives we use the K-9 to try and follow the scent of the assailant. While the area is being searched I question the victim about the incident and the assailant. She said she had him in class at Baker College and that he lives by Rose Lake not too far from where she lives. His name is William Bad Guy and he is 22 years old. She advised me that he had been hitting on her and trying to get her to” hook up with him”, she however turned him down and this apparently angered him. She said he attacked her and held a gun to her as he attempted to rape her. After taking all the…

It’s one thing when people avoid doing anything in those situations out of a real concern for their own personal safety, but in nearly any situation like this, there is always a way to help. If you find yourself in this situation and are fearful for your own safety when it comes to saying or doing something, call the police anonymously, a hotline, or go get someone else to come help with you. Some people feel like it’s disloyal to report a friend, partner or family member who is raping or abusing, but your loyalty is never more important than someone else’s life or keeping another person from incredible trauma. Even if you can’t see it that way, at the very least recognize that rapists and abusers are troubled and are often unlikely to stop, and far more unlikely if they are never held responsible. Helping a friend stay disturbed and aiding them in doing harm through your inaction isn’t helping your friend.…
