RELATED STUDIES AND LITERATURE

In an article entitled “What is College?” John C. Hitt, President of the University of Central Florida stated that College sharpened his love of history, and he continued to be an eager reader of historical fiction and non-fiction books. It also taught him the value of analysis and to think critically. He said that his college experience helped fulfill his father’s dream for him. Today, higher education remains the best way for parents to transform dreams into reality for children.
Sheldon Shaeffer, director at the Bureau of Education of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia Pacific, said that the K+12 (Kindergarten plus 12 years) was a necessary reform “to make the system comparable to and competitive with other countries.” The two additional years in Senior High School are envisioned to serve as a specialization period for high school students whether in vocational skills, music, the arts or sports. This would give high school graduates the option to pursue jobs with a basic education diploma or proceed to college. The program aims to make Philippines Education at par with the rest of the world, with 12 years of basic schooling already a global standard. The DepEd (Department of Education) started the phase implementation of K+12 in June 2011, with the institutionalized Public Kindergarten Program for 5-year-olds. It is set to introduce a new curriculum for Grade 1 and 1st year high school. If implemented on schedule, the full K+12 Program will have its first graduates in March 2018.
In the article entitled “Importance of College Education, Why it is Important to Go to College?” Jeff Mcguire pointed out that during their high school career, students may begin to question the importance of a college education.     Black rice bug or mostly known as ‘’ itim na atangya ‘’ appears commonly during rainy seasons yet they are also seen during summer and when irrigation starts. An adult female bug lays their eggs in clusters, each containing 29-34 eggs, egg incubation of RBB is 3 to 7 days. It lives from 3 to 7 months. The female lays about 200 eggs during her lifetime. Large populations of this pests are more common on lowland rice, rain fed fields and continuously irrigated ones, because the eggs only survives when near the water source. During dry conditions, the female bug deposits its eggs on the leaves and stem. Eggs are also laid in cracks on the soil and on roots. These bugs belong to the Pentatomidae and under in the Hemiptera order which tells that these bugs are truly pests to our crops and plants. According to the International Rice Research Institute and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, there are three or four overlapping generations of these pests in a year. The first generation and part of the second generation occur on the first crop; the remainder of the second, the third, and part of the fourth generation occurs on the second crop. There are two overlapping generations in aestivation at each period between crops. At aestivation sites, fourth and fifth in star nymphs and adults are most commonly found.…
