The Catholic Children’s aid society of Toronto is an organization dedicated to providing homeless or compromised youth a good future, whether they do it themselves, or by providing a foster home for them to live in. The organization is a non-profit one, meaning they don’t profit from their work, and they are funded by the the Child and Family Services Act. First, the mission of the church is “ The Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto, on behalf of the Catholic community is committed to providing social services that protect children and strengthen family life.” The goal is to provide protection to children, something they successfully achieve. However, they do not accept kids over the age of 16. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”(Matthew 19:14) By making children homeless, or …show more content…
Social justice is defined as justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society. An abused and neglected child is not given wealth, opportunities or privileges, so by removing them from a dangerous environment, this organization is giving these youth an opportunity to succeed as well as giving them privileges that they would not have received otherwise, such as a home, or a chance at higher education. This allows them to get another chance in life, while being away from their previous, dangerous environment. They also follow in the catholic teachings of social justice, as one of the base foundations of their teachings is “Option for the Poor & Vulnerable.” Homeless or abused youth are considered to be very vulnerable, as they tend to struggle emotionally, as such, this organization fulfills this teaching by giving these youth an option to receive a new

The supervisor of the Mesa Children’s unit is well known for his easy disposition and caring demeanor. It’s evident by his interaction with his staff that he is highly invested in their personal and professional growth. He is known to be absent-minded especially when overwhelmed with his responsibilities and requires a lot of reminders from his team to stay on task. This supervisor is most closely aligned with a servant leader style of management. He embodies several of the ten principles of servant leaders including listening, empathy, healing, stewardship, growth, community building, and nurturing the spirit. Unfortunately, the supervisor lacks in the areas of awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, and foresight. He received his…

Many people give up their time just to volunteer. The missions of the Catholic Relief Service are strictly based upon the catholic teachings. The CRS carries out the commandments in many ways. Such as honoring only one God and no other Gods, by being faithful, going to church, and following the laws giving to us as catholics. Through their missions they carry out the ten commandments and the teachings of the Catholic church. They carry out the beatitudes by caring for others and helping people who need it the most, like children living in poverty. They also comfort the needy, by being there for them, supporting them, providing them with things no one else could but the CRS. The Catholic Relief Service is all about helping others based on the teachings of the Catholic faith and the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes are a big basis of Catholic Teaching. The missions of the CRS are strictly based off the faith of Catholics. And the basis of catholics are the Commandments and Beatitudes. I believe that there is no stigmatization or off-targeted benefits at the Child Abuse Prevention Association. CAPA seems like they have everything in order and they will help anyone who needs it. They work hard to make sure people have an understanding and know exactly what child abuse and neglect mean. They help teach everyone the difference and all of the signs of abuse and neglect as well. They have volunteers who also aid children to have a less stressful life. The volunteers also help children feel safe in their own home. CAPA makes no judgment to who they help.…

Social Justice has been an emerging issue over the last century in today’s service environment of helping professionals. Social Justice is a mindset and an action for change. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia defines social justice, as “the ability people have to realize their potential in a society where they live. Classically, ‘justice’ referred to ensuring that individuals both fulfilled their societal roles, and received what was due from society. ‘Social justice’ is generally used to refer to a set of institutions which will enable people to lead a fulfilling life and be active contributors to their community.” Social justice is equality for all. When we live, work, go to school, see a doctor, and even attend church in a community that does not have an equal playing ground, oppression occurs. In 2010 the Counselors for Social Justice (CJS) Code of Ethics was formally endorsed. The code is meant to clarify the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics from a perspective of social justice. It provides action steps “to clarify how social justice-oriented counselors can transition ethical intent to ethical practice” (CJS Code of Ethics p. 2).…

To help this social injustice, families volunteer to become certified foster families to foster children. The process is very long and takes time before they are allowed to foster. Organizations such as Casa de los Niños, the Blake Foundation, and Children’s Advocacy Center work with CPS to help foster families take care of the children. Law enforcement, daycares, the Juvenile Court Center, transportation/supervision companies, and the Foster Care Review Board are also very involved in the foster care system.…
