Case study 2 Chris Double

7. 14.1 is Chris’s BMI
8. 1308 is Chris’s BMR
9. 151.6 is his THR at 60% 178.8 is his THR at 80%
10. Since Chris is a young teenager and hoping to be on the wrestling team, a sport that requires a lot of strength, speed, agility, endurance and explosive power I will give him the 1rm bench test for his upper body strength and for his lower body strength I will give him the 1rm strength test using the squat instead of the leg press as the squat is a better overall leg exercise that recruits more muscle fibers than the leg press. The squat is also more practical to the sport of wrestling as many of the wresting takedowns require the wrestlers to squat low to the ground. For endurance I would give him the sit up test as well as the walk run test, not only to see how his cardiovascular abilities were, but to see his core and abdominal endurance as well. Both of which are critical in the sport of wrestling

11. Chris is hoping to join the wrestling team and hoping to get stronger. For his training program I will Include many exercises to not only build strength, but overall explosive power as well. These will be absolutely critical tools to have if he’s going to join the wrestling team. I will also concentrate on his speed, agility and endurance on his cardio sessions

Both of the subjects in this test preformed excellent compared to the rankings provided. Victors Mean Power put him in between the 85 to 90 percentile with his score of 639.83 and his Anaerobic Capacity put him in between the 60 to 65 percentile. These scores indicate that Victor trains more with resistance than aerobic type exercises because of the high score of his Mean Power. These scores also correlate with his VO2 Max test we preformed earlier. His VO2 Max of 3.4 is low compared to the high end of the spectrum for that test and indicated that Victor focuses more on resistance than aerobic. Terry’s score put him in between the 70 to 75 percentile in Mean Power but put him in the 95th percentile for Anaerobic Capacity. This is due to his higher level of fitness and his lower body weight compared to Victor.…

My first fitness test for the skill related component is power. I believe that it is valid as only as the times were recorded accurately because it measure exactly what it is supposed to measure which is the power of the student. Although I do believe that the reliability of this fitness test is low because the student could be ill, or injured or just not feeling 100% that could make the recording differ. It is also unreliable because the person that is recording the times could miscalculate or could simply write down the wrong digits. Another thing that makes this test unreliable is if it is performed outside then the different temperatures of the sun could affect the students and make it unfair. They could either all do it at the same time in the same temperature or they could take the ambient temperature and if it varies by more then a few degrees wait for it to get hotter or colder or plan testing at a better time.…

    b) In order to improve my muscular fitness level, I need to devote time to work on each part of my body. Taking into consideration the rest time between workouts, I need to train each muscle group of my body. For example, my Upper body will be trained 2 times a week, and Lower body on other two days of the week. As for intensity, since I am willing to improve my muscular strength, I should perform 1 to 3 sets with 5 to 10 repetitions per exercise. Moreover, I need to perform 2 to 5 exercises per major muscle group, in order to improve my muscular fitness level. To be more specific, I do Dumbbell Bench press with 15 lb per hand, 3 sets with 10 repetitions. Following this exercise, I move on to Chest Flyes with dumbbells of 15 lb each hand. Similarly, I perform this exercise 3 times with 10 repetitions. When I workout on my back, I perform One Arm Bent-Over row with 15 lb, 3 sets with 7 or 8 repetitions. As for shoulders, Front Raise with the same weight is performed 3 times with 10 repetitions. Lastly, I perform Sit-Up…
