Campaign-Running for Mayor
Position Paper
The city of Los Angeles has serious environmental issues and we need to pay more attention to that matter to fix it. LA could be a much more welcoming place if it wasn't for the pollution and vandalism. I believe that if we fund the environmental issue and encourage people not to pollute we could be an even more well known county. Wild animals roam the streets , the sidewalks are dark and dirty, walls are tagged all over the county and what do we do about it? To be honest, we do very little to nothing. With me in office I will do my best to make LA a safer, cleaner, and more attractive environment. Speech

Hello my name is_______ and I'm running for your next Los Angeles Mayor. I'm just another guy that grew up on the Southern California coast, I spent most of my time in school, surfing, playing water polo, swim team, and playing video games. Ever since I was about 8, getting involved in sports and martial arts, my parents always pushed me to be the best at whatever I did and be a leader. I live by that and have been successful ever since. I became a lifeguard on the coast of southern California earning my college tuition and participated in youth and government in my high school career. I was and am still athletic, intelligent, mentally strong, every quality a good mayor requires, I have. Enough about my life now Id like to tell you what i'm going to do for you. Through thick and thin, like a strenuous swim practice, I will push through trying my hardest to succeed staying headstrong throughout the whole process. I aim to really make a difference in LA and make it a better, safer place than it already is. Like everything in life, LA has flaws and i'm here to fix them. I want to consider the opinions of all people of LA County and do what is right. I am a team player and you, the people of LA are my team, like in an intense game of water polo I will do what it takes to reach my goal and I couldn't do that

By creating a welfare state of dependence, the government’s assistance claims to be able to lift America out of its economic distress. This perversion of the actual plight of the average American is insulting. It has been the lack of prosecution of the central banking cartels that created the economic devastation we all face each day. The Obama administration has ignored this truth. As a big brother control, this executive order will not help to alleviate our decaying cities, but simply place them under government regulation.…

The environmental problem that is most significant in our town, as well as several others, is the depletion of natural resources. The cause of this was the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20th, 2010. Our environmental ethics were compromised when greed over took what was best for the environment. Our state’s ethics were compromised when we took pay-offs to look the other way and alter reports. It snowballed in effect and people were not educated by the media, federal, and or local government in that people did not know how much damage it truly has caused. The oil spill had a larger impact than people realized. It affected not only our wildlife and fisheries, but every industry throughout the state of Louisiana, and other surrounding states. This oil spill is considered the “largest oils spill in the U.S. history that continues to devastate our wildlife while the press and independent scientists are continually denied access to the spill site and surrounding beaches. (Malik, 2010)” This was also the largest man made catastrophe in the history of the United States. Our human values were also compromised along with our ethics when the politicians sold out the people of the state of Louisiana for monetary gain, not recognizing how truly detrimental it was to our people, industry, and overall way of life. Some of the other major ethical questions surrounding the spill involve moral and legal obligations we might have to wildlife and above all the environment (Malik, 2010). We still do not know the extent of damage that has occurred and continues to occur.…

The Los Angeles Basin is a plain that lies between the Pacific Ocean and mountains to the north and east. During the summer, the sunny climate produces a layer of warm, dry air at upper elevations. Southern California counties are where almost 15 million people reside. South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is a governmental organization established in 1977 to deal with the historically poor air quality in the area surrounding Los Angeles. Air pollution injures organisms, reduces visibility, and attacks and corrodes materials such as metals, plastics, rubber, and fabrics. The respiratory tracts of animals, including humans, are particularly harmed by air pollutants, which worsen existing medical conditions such as chronic lung disease, pneumonia, and cardiovascular problems. Discussed in our paper will be several key points that will highlight very important details in regards to the efforts to reduce ozone in Southern California. Topics to be discussed are; described the historical development of the issue, the stakeholder’s involvement in the issue, and the long term effects of the problem, the responsibilities that arise from the ethical position and try to find a solution to this major problem.…

I live in Jersey City, New Jersey which is a part of Hudson County. In Jersey City, we have a small number of environmental health problems such as individuals having asthma, and cancer due to unhealthy polluted air, individuals getting sick because of climate change due to global warming, and people being exposure to unknown hazards. However, there are a lot of changes going on in my community that causes these environmental health problems. For example, throughout Jersey City you will notice a lot of construction going on and unknown chemical being release in the air at these construction sites. On the other hand, Jersey City has come along way when it comes to environmental health. In the 1980s, people was exposure to chromium contaminated…

The world is currently undergoing changes unlike ever recorded before in human history. Record breaking temperatures are occurring more frequently, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are at their highest rates since the Jurassic period, and a rapidly increasing population, fully reliant on our planets natural resources, are beginning to push the earth to its limit. On a local level, these environmental changes are having a significant impact on California’s environment. If this trend continues, California could experience devastating blows to its agriculture industry, a massive source of revenue. Perhaps the most important question to ask ourselves right now is; how can we reduce the impact that we have on California’s environment? So that we may…

In the 1940's California was supporting a population of seven million people and contained 2.8 million registered vehicles. Within the next twenty years the population more than doubled to reach 16 million while the number of registered vehicles all but tripled increasing to eight million. This has been a common trend in California's documented history from the early twentieth century to today. There have been many historical and environmental factors that have assisted in contributing to increases such as these in California. One such factor was World War II, from the late 1930's to 1945, which triggered a boom in the population of California and the beginning of the urban sprawl. Increases in population such as this resulted in a massive increase in pollution but more specifically air pollution. To counteract the drastic increase of air pollution in California, then Governor Earl Warren signed the Air Pollution Control Act authorizing each county in the state to create its own air pollution control (California Air Resources Board). Since the inception of this "clean air" act many private and governmental organizations were created setting rules, regulations, and standards against pollution and writing them into law. While the average individual is able to make decisions which ultimately affect the quality of our air by making it less polluted organizations hold a far greater power in controlling the quality California's air. Combining the organizational factors with the efforts of the individual has drastically decreased the rate at which we pollute our environment and increased the quality of the air here in California.…
