CMT Crisis Management Plan
At the beginning of a crisis the CMT should meet and analyze the situation. As the information comes in about the crisis, strategies on how to manage the event should be developed. The crisis management plan should have some of these strategies in it but some of the strategies may have to be adjusted for the crisis that is presented at that particular time. The company spokesperson should be coming up with a strategy for the media. At the midpoint in the crisis it is focused on response and mitigation. Efforts should be geared towards containing the damage and responding to internal and external stakeholders’ needs. At this time the response strategies should be monitored to see which ones are successful and which ones should be modified. As

    Sometimes it is something that we can predict. Other times the crisis happens upon us suddenly and without warning. In departments such as the Emergency Department (ED), crisis can generally be expected and the ED staff can safely believe that there will be a crisis during their shift. The outcome of the crisis can depend on how it is approached and dealt with. A patient’s rapid deterioration of their state of health or arrest in front of the family is a common crisis situation that occurs where I work.
