CJ407: Crisis Management
Prof. Matthew Tobias
Unit 5 Assignment

The case of Bradley has a background which is getting more and more common in this day and age. The country as a whole created a major stigma for service members seeking help in the years that followed the Vietnam conflict and it has taken until the last decade or so to begin to turn that around. When considering options for how to treat this scenario, it must remain present in your mind that Bradley and his wife should have been involved in counseling for a long time now, but they haven't been. So there will be issues that need to be worked out but cannot be done right now. With that in mind, it's important to focus on what can be accomplished. Namely, disarming Bradley,

It will evolve and turn one way or the other depending on the actions of the negotiator and assault team. I think that the nine other students are not being held for any sort of leverage by Bradley, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. As for the Professor and Bradley's wife, I believe he is holding them there because he's upset and feels that they need to explain to him what is going on. With proper counseling, the Professor doesn't need to be there either, but Bradley isn't a proper counselor and so does not realize that yet. Bradley is right in the middle of the Crisis stage. Maybe this morning he was still in Pre-Crisis, but now he has stepped through that threshold and created a situation he can't hope to get out of on his own. At this point he needs to be escorted to the Negotiation/Stabilization phase to calm him down and get a peaceful resolution to this …show more content…
Bradley is at a very dangerous place right now, if he feels like he is being betrayed again, he could regress to the Crisis stage, by leaving the two people he was upset with in there, it would allow him to feel like he is still running a portion of the show. The other nine students had nothing to do with any of it, he doesn't need them. I think that whoever made the call to assault a barricaded suspect who has only been speaking with the negotiator for about three hours has seen too many movies and needs to calm down. That's a terrible idea. At this point, the negotiator has some rapport with the suspect, things are calm, no one has been hurt and Bradley has even said he doesn't want to hurt anyone. I think with a little more time, he could be talked into surrendering peacefully. He has already exhibited a desire to do so, we just need to find the common ground to meet him on to make it

As forms/reports are created at the end of the SDLC phase, I would start by collecting all pertinent data and information needed about the report. Additionally, asking questions about who its users are, what the purpose is, and when is it used/ needed, where does it need to be delivered, and how many people need to use/view this report? After all data was assembled and consolidated, I would begin by using Java, HTML, or Visual Basic, as reports/forms are integrally related to the DFD's and ER diagrams. After creating the prototype, I would share with the users to determine if any corrections or adjustments are needed.…

The emergency responders that responded to Hurricane Katrina saved thousands of lives and hundreds of thousands of dollars in property. These men and women brought hope to a region devastated by one of the worst disasters in the history of the United States. However, the response to Hurricane Katrina was unsatisfactory by most people’s standards. This meager response greatly overshadowed the high-quality work that the emergency responders performed. The inadequate response can be attributed to each of the four different elements of an effective emergency response.…

It bothered me that he was not at least kept in custody for the night and go from there. No matter how close of a family member he is to me, I feel very conflicted that he was released without any conditions and that he it was fine for him to be back in the house the next morning. To be completely honest, I don't think I would have had the courage to call the police after the assault. I could only sit there in shock crying and feeling afraid. I think that if it wasn't somebody who witnessed what happened and helped inform the police, my life of how I was hurt by my brother would have been back to where it has been in the past, hidden. As a victim, I know that it would take me a a lot of courage to stand up against my offender, but I am vulnerable and I really need you and your colleagues help so that justice can be served and that I can finally have the ability to face my biggest fear. A crime has occurred, and the offender has to face justice. Unfortunately, out of all people, I am his sister and the victim at the same time. I strongly believe this to be the best resolution and we can both move on after this event. As a police officer, this duty is entrusted to you by society and I trust I trust…

It’s just another day of class, at least which is what is going through your head. You think schools are a safe place, not a place where you can get shot or killed at. What is going through your mind when you’re their sitting in class? Nothing other than what is going on. But it was all different for these students that day. On December 14, 1994, 26 year old Ralph Tortirici walked into a history class at State University of New York. Underneath his clothes he had a hunting knife and a Remmington 270 hunting rifle with which he took the classroom hostage. One of the hostages said he told everyone to stand up and get to the side of the classroom. Tortirici also told the professor to leave the classroom. He wanted everyone to know he was serious by firing off a round from his rifle and used a fire hose to tie the doors shut. Tortorici told the hostages in the classroom he had a computer chip in his brain and penis and wanted to see the president. If everyone cooperated nobody would get hurt, but 19 year old, Jason McEnaney, rushed the gunman and it discharged. McEnaney was seriously injured, shot in the leg and groin. Once arrested, Tortorici repeatedly said, “I did what I had to do.”…
