Crisis Prevention Course Analysis
Introduction
Crisis prevention course is not a just attending course or class for me. I gained a lot of experience form this class. I learned that how to handle crisis through better approach. I became more aware of my strengths and limitations regarding handling various crisis situations. In this paper, I am going to describe my experience and skills that I gained with the help of this class.

Five things that I have learned from this course
Triggers- Triggers can be defined as anything that produces an emotional response/reaction in a person (Saskatchewan Polytechnic, 2015). After studying this class, I became more aware that which things triggers me and how I have to control them before responding to any crisis situation.

Now I found that it is important for me to be aware of my attitudes and to develop helpful and effective response because some attitudes can be counterproductive and unhelpful when responding to a crisis.
Relationship between feelings and response- Most important thing that I learned from this course is that how my feelings are inter-related with my responses towards situations. I learned that we are responsible for our feelings and responses. I have to respond crisis with appropriate feelings without hurting clients and staff persons.
Crisis Intervention- Apart from all these things, the biggest achievement that I gained from this course is skills regarding intervention of various crisis at workplace. After going through all the crisis intervention models and non-violent crisis prevention model, I have learned that how to handle aggressive clients through various approaches.

Because I noticed that paying attention plays a big role in this field. For instance, when I was on a one week practicum at Autism Services, me and staff person was paying attention to one client only and another individual got upset just because of that. At that moment, I realized that as a professional; paying attention to every individual is essential. Another area that I need to work on is maintaining a safe distance from clients for the safety purpose.
Furthermore, I also need to work on my communication skills. For instance, as I am from India and English is not my primary language. So, to work confidently and effectively, I have to improve my communication skills. We have to speak person’s first language to show them respect and dignity as a Disability Support Professional.
Conclusion
As a Disability Support Worker, I gained a lot of skills from this class. I became more aware that it is essential to listen and spend more time with clients. I also gained experience of seven principles for effective verbal intervention and also non-violent early intervention. This course helps me to become more aware of myself in various life aspects. It’s more than just a theory course for me; I learned various practical skills from this
