Blood Descriptive Writing
Blood poured out of the wound in my side, and I gripped it as tears sprung to my eyes. I could feel every little nerve in my body slowly becoming numb as my body began to shut down. My heart began to beat slower, and my eyes grew heavy. I could barely feel my legs, but I continued to crawl away from the battlefield. The tears in my eyes began to spill, and I whimpered out loud, choking on the air that I breathed. I collapsed in to a pile of leaves near the base of a large oak tree, desperate for air. With each breath I took, blood filled my right lung. My lips grew slick with blood, and the taste of the blood in my mouth was sickening. I leaned over, wincing immensely and shouting in pain as I did so, and spit out the blood that was pooling …show more content…
I saw stars dance across my vision, and I snapped my eyes shut in torment. Every muscle in my body ached, and the pressure on my leg caused by the hand just intensified my agony. I couldn’t breathe, and I was beginning to cough up blood profusely. What little air I had in my lungs got caught in my throat, and I began to choke. Hot, salty tears burned my eyes, and they slipped down my cheeks quickly. “Please,” I pleaded meekly, “please make it stop.” The hand on my leg had gone to my face, and I felt gentle hands brush away my tears. “Stay with me,” a familiar voice whispered, and the hand wiping away my tears stroked my hair softly. I knew the touch well. It was a touch I had first thought was rough and firm, but once I’d gotten used to it, it had become gentle and loving. It was a touch I’d never thought I’d feel again. Not since the incident. . . I attempted to open my eyes, but it was like a million tiny fingers were pushing down on them, keeping them closed for good. I could practically feel the blood pouring out of me, and I slowly let myself go limp. “I’m so tired,” I said, and the hand on my face turned rigid. “I just want the pain to stop,” I cried softly as I felt the cold creep into my bones. I could lie here forever. I was floating on air, and nothing would be able to hurt me ever

The emergency medical technicians take her blood pressure and shine lights in her eyes, calling her name. She doesn’t respond, appearing dazed and lying there motionless on the couch, her hand no longer trembling with that recognizable palsy. Those thick ubiquitous lenses of her eyes appear distant, a moment in time frozen on them. Almost as if whatever she encountered has bound the image to its surface and into the reaches of her brain.…

The cuts on Little Red’s cheeks stung and dripped small drops of blood down her face. Suddenly she heard a door being opened, but she couldn’t see who it was because of the blindfold over her eyes. She heard a “Swoosh” and the sound of a blade hitting flesh. Then another. Then she felt a warm liquid spray onto either side of her.…

One foot forward, yet two steps back. The words, no, the screaming, echo off the walls in my head. Still, the faint touch of your body rips at my skin. My mind pleaded for help, for security, for shelter, but my heart insisted to stay. “We need to leave” it whispered, fearing he would hear us. “What if this is love” I called back. I ached in a silent cry for freedom. None of this was what I expected; none of this is what I wanted. Love did not equal confinement. It did not mean giving up on lifelong dreams, yet my body ached in defeat. The air was suffocating, but, nevertheless, I had to keep moving. Only God knows if I could get back up after yet another beating. Silence is not an option. These were the painful feelings that raced through…

My body is under attack. An attack I am all too familiar with. It feels as if an explosive has detonated in my head. I am disoriented and struggling to get my thoughts together. The pain is intense and crippling. I tilt my head back, and rest it on the headboard hoping for relief. I shut my eyes, and gently place my hands on my temples. As I begin to massage my temples, the invader silently enters into my thoughts and begins to taunt me, “You deserve everything you get, he whispers”. “It doesn’t matter how you try to escape me, I will be here. I will be here today, tomorrow, and for the remainder of your life”. Trying to ignore the whisper, I grab two Advil off the nearby nightstand, and wash them down with a sip of coffee. I squeeze my eyes tight, and begin to feel tears burn the back of my eyelids. My thoughts begin to become tainted with feelings of despair, hopelessness and sorrow. I open my eyes, and standing within arm’s reach of me, is my ten year old son. I choke back my tears, force myself to smile and reach out for a hug.…

I looked around and I wasn’t in my room anymore, I was in the hospital during my grandpa’s surgery. The waiting room was cold and sterile and the smell of antiseptic was so strong I could taste it. Waves of uneasiness washed over me as if they were trying to drown me. My grandma and my mother were sitting in the room with me and they looked just as scared. I remembered how long my grandpa was in surgery to get his windpipe removed, how I had thought that I wouldn’t make it through the hours he was and that if he didn’t then I wouldn’t make it for much longer afterward.…

It was now or never in the white room full of beeping machines surrounding me. The doctor had just told me that I was dying. My heart sunk to the ground as hard as an anchor. The ghost-like faces in the room were my parents, as they sat there more lost than ever. I now knew I had to fight not only for my life, but with myself. Remembering the sting of the tube down my throat and IV in my arm, I reluctantly moved closer to the plate. This plate full of food staring at me was now my medicine. It took every muscle in my body to pick up the forkful of peas. The gravitational pull of my fingers clinging to the fork was unbearable, as though my body was screaming for me to put it down. It has been months since I have been this close to a plate, nor picked up a fork. I closed my eyes as the tears came streaming down my cheeks and opened my quivering mouth. I moved my shaky hand towards my mouth and poured the peas over my tongue. As I swallowed, I felt every pea go down like they were slitting my throat. This was putting poison in my body, as I felt the guilt clawing at me leaving invisible scars of fear and anger behind. I…

I keep thinking that this must be a nightmare. I keep thinking that, at any moment, I’ll wake up and you’ll be next to me. This doesn’t feel like reality. I don’t want this to be reality, because it isn’t living if I’m not with you. Everything has been a blur, since they told me you had left this world. Even the doctor’s face is murky in my memory now, just a faceless man walking towards me with my own death sentence. A brain aneurysm? It's not fair.…

“10,9,8,7…” At that point on, I was unconscious. I could hear doctors chattering and relaxing music playing in the background. The room was bright white and freezing. Lying there shaking, I saw all the doctors around me and a big blinding light shining on my body. Looking over on the table next to me, I saw all the tools. They looked like the kinds of tools used to dissect a whole body. After I saw that I could barely breath and that was the last thing I could remember. Three hours later, I finally woke up. Not only did I wake up, but I woke up balling my eyes out because I didn’t know where I was. Everything was a blur to me and I didn’t even know what happened. Doctors rushed over to calm me down and explained to me what was going on. After I calmed down, I started cracking some jokes. The doctor told me I wouldn’t be all crazy, but I definitely was. I don’t remember what I was saying but apparently I was a comedian. Soon the medicine wore off. I looked down at my foot and it was all wrapped up in a boot. The pain was throbbing. It felt like someone stabbed a knife right through my bone. That was the most pain I had ever been…
