Becoming A Physical Therapist

“I want to inspire people, I want someone to look at me and say, “because of you helping me get back to where I was before I got injured, I never gave up.” Emily, a physical therapist, said this because of being a physical therapist, you deal with bunch of people that have been injured and have to help them get back to where they were, if not ahead of where they were which can be very challenging. Challenges that will lie between me and success on my future career are staying in school longer than most people, adapting many different skills, and I will overcome these by keeping ahead of everything that I need to get done to become a Physical Therapist. To actually become a legit physical therapist though, they will need to get their master’s degree that will be at least six years of college. To acquire a doctorate degree in physical therapy, which is not a necessity to become a physical therapist, but may be required for the higher level jobs, they would just add on two more years after getting their masters of after high school education. Physical fitness, biology, anatomy, and kinesiology(also known as human kinetics, is the scientific study of human movement) are just a couple of special areas that you will need to get an education on to become a physical therapist. Many physical therapists also undergo thorough schooling in patient psychology to help them understand better and help patients with the emotional disputes that are related with a physical condition. There are certain state requirements that are needed when wanting to become a physical therapist. Anyone whom is interested in becoming a physical therapist they will need to pass a test before becoming one. To be able to get things done they will need to do many things that will help themselves. Colleges offer many resources to students to help them get through academics, extracurricular activities, and career growth. By the end of the semester they say that you should be very familiar with three key campus places; library, academic support center, and the career services center. They should create a system to establish what they need to get done or happen first. Students accustomed to their structured high school experiences may struggle to balance college’s new-found independence to juggle classes, study time, and extracurricular activities. Grand staff suggest students, especially freshmen, to set priorities and stick to a schedule to manage their workload, schedule, and reduce stress. Don't just show up to class either. Get involved with the lecture and everything else. They say students get a better grasp if they get involved in their classes instead of just sitting there listening and going through the motions. Students wanting to become a physical therapist should make great relationships with their professors. A common misconception about college faculty members is that they don't want to be bothered by students, but most professors encourage interactions outside of class.
