The designer clothing line BCBG stands for “bon chic, bon genre”. It is a French term that means good style, good attitude. Max Azria founded the line in 1989 and was inspired to bring European sophistication to American fashion. His line has now expanded to shoes, handbags, sunglasses, swimwear, jackets, fragrance, accessories and menswear. The label is high quality, affordable, classic and sophisticated. It is targeted toward women of all ages, shapes and personal styles. He carries everything from chic dresses to casual pants and tops. The ever growing and prosperous BCBG line is expected to be around for many years to come.
My internship experience at BCBG was honestly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Before this, I wasn’t sure about how I was going to get into the industry because it has become one of the most competitive fields to make your way into, especially for girl’s my age. It seems that people from all over the country want to get a taste. I learned so much about the industry. Working in sales gave me the experience of working in a New York Showroom. I had meetings with buyers, prepared for market, pulled available styles, created prep mailings, maintained consisted and up-to-par line-sheets, photographed samples to upload for style process and worked with many people, even account executives, on a regular basis.
Another highlight was Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I was able to participate in the biggest event in the industry. I was exposed to the work that goes on behind the scenes. As a volunteer, I learned about model casting and look boards, runway venue preparation, and backstage assistance and set up. I feel that this experience will give me the edge over someone else who wants to work in the same field as I do.
I enjoyed working in sales because I mainly got to work with the samples. I had the benefit of seeing how they start at a pattern on the computer, turn into a silhouette on paper and then are produced into a

Cholos is a word created by Hispanic Criollos in the 16th century. Sociologically it refers to individuals of mixed or pure Native American ancestry or any other racially mixed origin. The usage of “cholo” is meant differently throughout parts of the world. In most American usage today the term cholo is used to describe a low-income Mexican-American sub-culture manner of dress. The first usage of the term is first recorded in a book by the Peruvians published in the year 1609 and appeared again for a second time in 1616 in a book called Comentarios Reales de los Incas by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. A sentence from the book (originally written in Spanish) stated: “The child of a black male and an Indian female, or of an Indian male and black female, they call mulatto or mulatta.” The children are also called cholo as well. Cholo comes from the Windward Islands. In the Windward Islands, cholo , means dog. Not purebred but not considered to be respectable in character or appearance. The Spaniards use it for insult and bitter, abusive language.…
