Banana Pudding
Magnolia Bakery is a fairly ubiquitous NYC spot. If you've ever seen an episode of Sex and the City or even so much as heard of Carrie Bradshaw, you may have been led to believe that you must try their cupcakes, but the truth is the cupcakes are only okay and if you're going to eat one cupcake while you're in New York I'd suggest Baked By Melissa instead. The thing Magnolia Bakery does really well is banana pudding. Real talk, I don't even like bananas, and I'm not a huge pudding fan, and I'm still obsessed with their banana pudding.
I've been dying to make it for months and last weekend Lemon, my girlfriend and I had a joint birthday party, so it seemed like the perfect excuse to make a million desserts. I expected it to be tough to track down the recipe, seeing as Magnolia is like, A Big Deal, but it was actually ridiculously easy. Magnolia Bakery has a cookbook, and in it is the banana pudding recipe, and many people have taken it upon themselves to get that recipe up on the world wide web! So here we are. Let's make the best banana pudding you've ever had in your entire life, courtesy of Magnolia Bakery and the good people of the Internet.
Not only is this pudding crazy easy to make, but it honest to god tastes exactly like the one you can buy at Magnolia Bakery. A few of our party guests didn't even believe me it was homemade! But it was, and once I convinced them of that fact I became a baking goddess in their eyes. So go forth, hungry Straddlers, and impress your friends and loved ones. Or don't tell anyone else about your pudding and eat the entire thing by yourself. Both are acceptable

As noted throughout this analysis, Jamba Juice has a number of organizational issues. Primarily, Jamba Juice mismanaged their rapid growth, which reduced their margins, increased their operating expenses, and stalled their cash inflows. Failure to instill any organizational culture of financial discipline allowed these problems to permeate throughout the company. The seasonal demand of smoothies was another issue, as it created downturns in revenue at certain times of the year. A lack of thoughtful marketing and advertising strategies, especially as Jamba Juice expanded across the nation, failed to take advantage of their strong brand and create more awareness and interest.…

    Cornpone

Mark Twain’s essay “Corn-Pone Opinions” was all about how people in society follow trends, even when they do not like them. In the beginning of the essay Twain talks about being fifteen and how he loved to hear this black man’s sermons. His mother forbids him to listen to these sermons because the black man was a slave. He then goes on to talk about how “a man is not independent, and cannot afford views that might interfere with his bread and butter” (1400). He is trying to say that if you do not have the same ideas or opinions as you neighbors you could possible damage your social standing and business prosperities. Later on Twain talks about how we all have to approve ourselves by the approval of others, “it is our nature to conform; it is a force which not many can successfully resist” (1402). For example when a new fashion trend comes along like the feather in the hair, one person has it then everyone else start to do it even if they do not like it in order to feel like they fit in. Eventually this trend will go out of style and if you are seen wearing it you will get laughed at because it is not what is in style anymore. Another essay “Harrison Bergeron” written by Kurt Vonnegut talks about a bleak future where everyone is the same. Vonnegut’s story ties in with Twain’s essay because it is about a future where every one is the same. If a man was tall he was tied down with weights to balance out someone of a lesser size, if someone was gorgeous they would have to wear a hideous mask to cover it up, etc. I agree with Twain’s and Vonnegut’s argument about conformity, people tend to agree with the majority.…

    Peach Cobbler

Peach cobbler is one of my family’s favorite deserts. Mainly, because of the great taste, but also for the fact that this desert is served on Sundays and holidays. My family anticipates the sweet taste of Grandma Sue's famous peach cobbler. My mother showed me how to cook this dessert when I was about 10 years old. Unlike most pie dessert recipes which can be difficult to bake, this cobbler dessert is easy to create. My grandmother grew up in Georgia around the 1940s. My grandmother did not have much but she said they made due of what they had. Peach cobbler was one of the most inexpensive deserts, but also one of the yummiest. My grandmother said that her mother would have left over dough and she did not believe in wasting anything so she would take the dough and cut up peaches and add sugar. My grandmother and her siblings would request this desert as often as they could. So, my great grandmother would make it for them every Sunday and on holiday. Ever since then, peach cobbler has been a part of my family’s traditions. Grandma Sue's peach cobbler continues to show up at every Sunday dinner and holidays, but with an extra special touch from Grandma Sue.…
