Bald Eagle Thesis
Have you ever wonder why the bald eagle is the emblem of our country? Well before I starting researching I did too. I come to figure out the reason why it is the emblem of our country is. Wait, wait, wait you think imma let you have this answer so easy. Well you are wrong your going to have to stick around and learn about the bald eagle before I tell you what your wanting to know. Well before we get into this; Get ready to learn why the bald eagle is one of the most fascinating birds in North America and why it is the emblem of our nation.
Bald Eagles are one of the biggest birds in North America weighing in from 10-14lbs and have in a wingspan of 6 to 7ft. Something people found incredible about Bald Eagles is they have a lifespan from 20-30 …show more content…
Bald Eagles scavenge many meals by harassing other birds or by eating garbage. They eat mainly fish, but also hunt mammals, gulls, and waterfowl. They even aren't afraid to steal from other birds they will fly right in and snag it for there own prize. They will even scavenge through garbage plants sometimes if hungry enough. When they steal another opponents kill they act like they're claiming the prize of the hunt. They usually hunt alone. You rarely often see Bald Eagles hunting a group. Bald Eagles are independent most of the time unless mating. During mating season they will go almost to any extent to get food for their babies. Balds Eagles are well known for there amazing eyesight and hearing. They have two foveae or centers of focus, that allow the birds to see both forward and to the side at the same time. They can see the fish easier because most fish are counter-shaded basically darker. But even with this amazing eyesight they have been mistaken to attacked plastic bottles, even plastic wrappers. But that's not there problem that's human problems. One thing is however us humans play out our duty if we keep littering into the environment one day any animal not just the bald eagle could be seriously hurt. If you were to find a bald eagle dead you are supposed to report it. Now let's get onto the history of these fascinating birds. We look at the as the flying fortresses of birds if you know what i mean. We have look at these birds throughout history as an amazing bird but something funny is the turkey could have been our national symbol. Luckily Benjamin Franklin disagreed to and saved us from having a wild turkey instead of this unique Eagle. The largest Bald Eagle nest was in St. Petersburg, Florida, which was 2.9 meters in width and 6.1 meters tall. Another nest in Vermilion, Ohio, was shaped like a wine glass and weighed about two metric tons. It was used for 34 years until the tree was destroyed by a natural cause. They have been known to play with plastic bottles they got ahold of and even toys sometimes which some people find hilarious. Also the oldest recorded bald eagle was 34 years old and was hit by a car in New York City which killing of this animal was in this state in 1977. Bald Eagles have been through North America for awhile now and i personally have only saw like three even though there's not as many as there used to be they are coming back With more bands than ever on the killing of these birds they have been able to make a tremendous comeback.
