Arnar Arnhart: A Short Story
It was a bright, summer day at Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, AK. Arnar Arnhart was patiently waiting for his cousin Chris Cruz to arrive from Mexico City.
“Would passenger Suzy Santo please come to gate B7 for boarding please,” the loudspeakers boomed.
Arnar could hear all of these types of resounding announcements as he waited in the terminal B arrivals lounge. Arnar, being a patient and calm type was quite excited for his cousin to arrive considering his personality. He glanced at the arrivals board to check on Chris’s flight every second, MX153. Chris would spend all of summer vacation with the Arnharts as a foreign exchange student. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, all was peaceful in the Arnhart residence (a little

When your son went into the kitchen it was the combination of the two events that lead the house to be on fire. You should be grateful that these young men had called 911 and also got out of the building for if not they might not be living right …show more content…
Arnhart stood there in awe and speechless as she did not expect this outcome from the situation.
“I just can’t believe this,” she continued.
Arnar ran up to her and gave her a tight squeeze before any fluid could start flowing from her eyes as they were starting to tear up.
“There still remains one question,” Mr. Arnhart announced attempting to break up the emotional situation.
“What?” all the others chorused in unison.
“What are we going to do about the house?” Mr. Arnhart continued.
It appeared that the world heard that question because at that very moment all of the neighbors walked out on to their front stoops with a variety of things, everything from old beds, to silverware, to chairs, and brought them up to the Arnharts and Chris. They started piling everything up in front of the house and ran back to their home to get more things. There was an unending series of thank yous until the Arnhart’s gratefully thanked every single person and then took to the things to storage waiting for them until they moved into their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Guzzleberry from next door even invited them to live in their home while the family figured out their living conditions and filed insurance claims. Overall the whole neighborhood pitched in and the family recouped from the

From what I've been told, it was a still summer morning. With the sun just beginning to edge over the horizon the inevitable squawking of the local maggies was moments away. The last people from the previous night's boozing were slowly edging home between awkward stumbles and short breaks to send the recently consumed beverages and early morning munchies back up the way they'd came.…

The story “A Girl’s Story” by David Arnason is written in a modern perspective. It allows the author to write about stereotypes and the difficulty of relationships and everyday life. The setting he chooses is like any other love story; by a river on a sunny day. He chooses a female to take the lead role, which is where the criticizing and stereo typing comes into action. He describes the female lead as “fairly tall, about five-foot eight and quarter in your stocking feet” with “long blond hair, because long blond hair is sexy and virtuous”, exactly what any guy would be in love with. Just like the perfect Cinderella.…
